‘My whole life I thought I was a Virgin Islander’- Heritage
Ms Parsons, during a panel discussion held at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College in Paraquita Bay, Tortola, on Virgin Islands Day, July 4, 2022, also indicated that the opinion was a personal one and that she had "absolutely no excuse" for it.
"I had emotional distress. I now figure out I'm not a Virgin Islander. All my life I thought I was... I'm going through an identity crisis this morning," he added.
Ms Parsons' response has since sparked conversations in the community and on the radio where Julio S. Henry aka 'Sam' said he can only trace one part of his heritage to being Virgin Islanders.
"I am a single barrel. I could probably trace my mother probably five or six generations back, but I born BVI. I have nothing to do with Antigua, nothing do with Santo Domingo where my father is from. I am born BVI and I will defend BVI," he added.
I am a belonger- Sam Henry
"I am a belonger, whatever you want to call me, I belong here, I ain't going to disrespect nobody from no other place... so nobody can't tell me otherwise," he added.
Henry commended former Miss BVI, Bria A. Smith for her response to Ms Parsons on the question of what is a Virgin Islander.
Smith said the perspective of being a Virgin Islander has changed over the years and it is now up to people to define or redefine what that looks like.
"Is it really the focus on tradition? Is it really now the focus on our values? Because if we focus too much on too many things, we have lost what it means to be a Virgin Islander,” Smith added.

The perpetrators are overwhelmingly Caribbean expats. With the profession of prostitution among this group, their mommas grannies ,daughters, sons, Uncles.
And we know for certain, their most gratifyjng hobby is killing each other and critiquing
VIslanders. The absurdity is
beyond imagination.
is killing each other.
Beastiality is also a tourist attraction in some places.
It’s this very attitude why the BVI is struggling so much. Too many divisive minds like you. Who commits more incest than locals who make children with their cousins?
Are your trying to convince us that even if a pregnant woman came to the BVI elegal, birthed a child in the Virgin Islands, that the child is not a Virgin Islander, because the mother entered the Virgin Islands legally?
Former political government Minister, you are sick in your mind, Spiritually, morally, and socially unstable, in my firm, and honest opinion.
P.S. look at heritage. Anyone can look at he face and mouth and tell interbreeding occured.
Oh and we are all inter bred as we are all family at some point. So stop the noise. In menu world societies it is normal to have relations with your family. Even in the Bible 2 daughters intentionally breed their father. But now you all want to act. Again take your heads out of your azzes!
Now Eileen Parsons put them in their place - outside the box.
And me, a born and raised Tolan, even further from feeling at home on the only country I know.
My parents are of three or more generations, therefore I am TRUE Belonger!!!
Thank You!!
Hypocrite you are.
What is insulting about not seeing a $100 US bill?
I am not nor have ever been poor and I had never seen one. I have never seen a $1000 bill either and I do big money transactions...credit card, transfers, checks. Now I have seen $100 bills from Caribbean countries but their worth is about 10 cents. Being offended by her statement reveals much about one's financial state and mind and truth of her evaluations.
an expat is a disgraced thing is something you need to address within the confines of your cerebellum.
Welcome to the real world that we have to live in.
You will be tolerated but not accepted.
They are desperate to rid themselves of their true heritage, Why? Is it that ugly? Well,yes!⁶ The VISLANDERS are happy and proud of their heritage. As a people,we should all be so proud of who we are and what we have become by ourselves. BVIslanders are a badass melanated group. We can learn a lot from them but we can never become them . The World would,as a result ,smile on us more readily.
Much Respect!
Where you were born and particularly in addition to where you were raised is where you are from.
