Murder accused Vernon Bernard attempts suicide
Bernard aka ‘Bones’ reportedly attempted to use a shirt to hang himself. He had earlier made an appearance at the Magistrate’s Court held at the Road Town Police Station and was remanded on the charges of Murder, Possession of Firearm, and Taking a Conveyance (vehicle).
Unconfirmed reports are that Bernard was heard threatening to commit suicide prior to attempting to carry out the act.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) confirmed the alleged incident.
“According to the sergeant in charge at the time, an attempt was made by Bernard to take his own life,” Police Information Officer Diane L. Drayton told our newsroom.
Bernard and 21 year old Maybelline Rodriquez were charged with the murder of Mr Daway, information first and accurately broke by our newsroom at the weekend.
The duo, along with Rafael Harrigan, 27, who was charged for Possession of Firearm and Taking a Conveyance, are slated to make their next court appearance on Friday May 25, 2018.
Daway, 26, was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with several bullet holes on the eastern side of Brandywine Bay on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, a story also first reported on by this news site.

Everyone has now found the courage to finally sit down and talk sh*t about people on the local news site about who take life and who commit what so ever crime but y'all r real cowards Hiding behind the face of the internet. And then ayo sitting down blaming people's parents for the choices there kids have made. Bones doing that to escape he have a plan. They need to tsp his family phone. The m****** was talking about getting him off the island. That suicide is just a distraction for him to escspe. The police needs to be on guard with him cause he is going to destroy a lot of them in his escape..
