ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – International hair fashion expert Ms Glenda ‘J’ Jemison of Franklin Beauty School USA, has high expectations for this evening’s Style BVI as she arrives today December 7, 2014 on the shores of the Territory, a place that never existed in her imagination prior to being invited for the event.

It is seen as more than just another event or hair show but rather one that can honestly say it has opened new doors for more tourists to visit the Virgin Islands (VI). Communicating with Ms Jamison via social media she told this news site that when contacted and invited by Hymen Husein to be the chief judge for the show it was the first time she had heard of the Virgin Islands.

“I did not know about the BVI until I got the invitation to be a guest judge. I am very excited. I learned about the BVI hair show from Aymen Husein. I expect to see fabulous hair styles and models. Participant, organizers and patrons can expect me to be a very capable judge and fair. I have judged many contests/events,” she said.

She said that the single most important thing that would cause her to return to the VI would be that she would have had a wonderful time and enjoyed the people involved. “I really do not know how I will spend my stay. I think Mr. Husein may have some plans,” she said.

She further added, “The BVI can have a great show and I know it will be great from the pictures I saw of the show last year.”

Style BVI 2014 promises to be the show ‘extraordinaire’ with the most popular, class and creative hair salons and hair dressers putting out the best of their creative side. The doors open from 4:00pm today at the UP’s Cineplex Ballroom and the show kicks off at 5:00pm.

The Style BVI Hair & Beauty Expo is a one-day hair & beauty sensation where fans, customers, hair, fashion and make up enthusiasts can come watch and participate with some of the Virgin Islands’ hair salon industry’s hottest talents.

This year will be even bigger than last year with 20 plus salons that are scheduled to participate, including over 100 Virgin Islands hair models.

B’more and Melanie Amaro (X-Factor Winner & Bvilander) have also elevated the entertainment to another level during this year’s show that will feature regional and international musical performances. A professional grade production, lighting and sound can also be expected and the music will be juggled by well-known Dj Dre.

Prizes this year will be for best braids, best weaving, best natural style, best cut and colour, best wedding style, the people's choice award and the main event, the most outrageous hairstyle. There will be a door raffle entry for various prizes as well as raffle entry that persons will receive free with their tickets.

just who is this lady judge? Under what rock was she hiding? If she is that isolated or so self-absorbed not to have heard of the virgin islands, how realistically speaking, can she be objective in her judging? If she is so small mentally it means she has not had enough international exposure to bring anything meaningful to our show. Also a judge should look and be a representation of what she is judging. Take a look at this person - anything to excite a budding stylist??? Miss. please be gone....

I guess u feel that all 1 trillion people MUST know about or heard about the BVI? Come on now....be realistic, isn't our motto Nature's Little Secrets? Face it not everyone will be privy to our clandescent shores. Do you know 'all' the islands in the wold, or do you know all the states in the US? Be glad that a virtually unaware person now knows about us and can spread positivity about the VI and attract others who may have never heard about us. On another note: Am I the only one who thought this was Miss J from Tyra's American Next Top Model? lol before seeing her picture?
