BROOKLYN, New York, USA- Rising Virgin Islands artiste Monéa, born Monea L. Richardson, has secured a nomination at the Caribbean Music Awards, placing her firmly amongst a dynamic class of breakout dancehall talents including Armanii, Malie Donn, and Lady Lava.

This recognition, according to a press release, underscores Monéa's growing influence and impact on the contemporary Caribbean music scene.

History has also been made as Monéa is the first artiste from the Virgin Islands to be recognised by the annual event.

Versatility

This nomination, according to the press release, comes at an exciting time for Monéa, as she gears up for the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album, "Tropikana Vol. 2: Mood Swings," this summer.

Monéa's versatility as an artiste is underscored by her inclusion in the Caribbean R&B Artist of the Year category, where she stands alongside acclaimed Bajan singer Amanda Reifer, Jamaican vocalists Tosh Alexander D’yani, and her former collaborator Dexta Daps. This placement is a testament to the genre-bending nature of her music, with her signature sound, aptly coined "Tropikana" – a captivating fusion of dancehall and pop – continuing to attract and convert fans across the globe.

Voting is open

In its third annual celebration, the Caribbean Music Awards, held Labor Day weekend in New York, shines a spotlight on impactful artists, producers, and industry figures across a diverse spectrum of Caribbean genres. This year's nominations feature over 150 individuals across more than 40 categories, including fellow artists from the US Virgin Islands such as Pressure, Pumpa, Th3rd, Star Martin, and Kruziano.

The Caribbean Music Awards are presented by the Caribbean Elite Group, publishers of Caribbean Elite Magazine, a prominent platform showcasing Caribbean culture, entertainment, and entrepreneurship.

Voting for the awards is now open to the public at the Caribbean Music Awards website and will continue until Friday, May 1, 2025. Virgin Islanders and fans worldwide are encouraged to show their support for Monéa by voting before the deadline.

Congrats Monea. Vybz Cartel tore up the Barclays Center this weekend. That place can hold thousands of people and every seat was filled. Manage to catch a glimpse of Cardi B and a few other celebrities. People flew and drove into NYC from everywhere to see the concert.

Lowkey, Monea the best music artist in terms of the complete package from the BVI. She can sing, rap, dance and do a little acting as well. S/O Monea, Keep up the good work
