Mighty Scatliffe graduates 99 pupils
At the Exit Ceremony held at Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall in Road Town, parents and guardians were cautioned to remain present in the lives of their children as they move on to secondary schooling.
Minister for Education and Culture Hon Myron V. Walwyn said these school aged children should not be left on their own.
“Young people have many competing influences that can alter their lives if they are not grounded and it is up to us to provide them with the tools necessary to remain on the right path to success,” he remarked.
The minister urged the graduating class to put God in the midst of the next phase of their lives as it will be a test of their faith, strength and courage, “but with God in the midst of it all, and the determination to succeed, you will once again be successful in your endeavors.”
He noted that the challenges that they have encountered throughout their primary school journey have ultimately prepared them for what lies ahead, and they should also build their knowledge and skills so that they can positively contribute to the territory.
First step
Principal of the Althea Scatliffe Primary School, Marieta C. Flax-Headley told the graduates to avoid getting stuck on this achievement as it is merely the first step of their educational journey.
“Do not get me wrong, everyone should celebrate their successes. Success builds confidence and gives one the motivation to continue on and confront new challenges, [but] do not make the mistake of thinking that this success is an end, but rather, see it as the ending of one phase and the beginning of another.”
