VI is a leader in mental health arena- Dr Rubaine
Commenting on the launch of the scholarship, Dr Virginia O. Rubaine, Director of Community Mental Health, said: “The Virgin Islands has advanced to the forefront of the arena of mental health when compared to our regional contemporaries. It is imperative that we maintain our position as leaders by focussing on cultivating the framework and resources which allow for the delivery of top-notch support to our patients and communities.
“The J.M. Culshaw Scholarship is revolutionary in that it sees us invest proactively in developing human capacity to remain innovative, compassionate, and capable. My gratitude is with the Harneys team for their philanthropy and I urge similarly-minded organizations to rise to the occasion and pledge similar support!”.
Dr. Rubaine’s statement emphasises the critical nature of public-private partnerships in the dynamic growth of a society’s potential and performance.
Combating stigma & discrimination
Managing Partner of Harneys (BVI), Tanya Cassie-Parker, echoed her sentiments and highlighted her firm’s commitment to progress within the Virgin Islands.
“We are incredibly pleased to be able to support this fantastic initiative spearheaded by the team at Community Mental Health. By helping combat the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health, the launch of the J.M. Culshaw Scholarship honours Jonathan’s memory and contributes to the holistic wellbeing of our Virgin Islands community. It is a testament to our commitment to making a positive footprint in each locale where our team members live and work, strengthening our local communities.”

Was she not empathic or was she just not willing to go along with you in what you determined was the problem or solution to your child's illness?
Or was it because you were part of the problem? Was it because you made it about you? and now you felt about the distress and not about what was best for the child? Could you not endure the distress for a better outcome or did you think the outcome came distress free and you could not sit in it?
Further that center you want to government to build has been a resource that Mental Health and its director have been advocating for from since Dr. Rubaine got here, because it is need, but it is needed for the safety and well being of the people who need it, not for you to get a break from your responsibilities. You want a break, get your chid well and do whatever that takes.
Further to that, it is the very government that you are calling on to built it, who have conveniently forgotten or choose to ignore the need for it. Considering the level of ignorance of the voting body of the BVI though, we voted for exactly what we got, so go figure that you wouldn't get a home, so you can get a "break from your responsibilities". It will be people like you who will drop off your relatives and forget them there.
Yes, I just said that. Come for me.
I actually wish this was a active in the moment comment section. I would enjoy reading you for filth in real time.
Step off!
Anyone you know who has spoken to Dr. Rubaine (Let's put some respect on her name, because she earned that title) and have nothing to say other than that Dr. Rubaine is part of the problem and not the solution is the problem themselves and I will tell you why.
Most of the time the people who are the problem come with a script of what they want to hear about their issue. They don't come for help, they come for validation of their fixed ideas about themselves and the things they do. They come with the idea that their children are angels and anything that is said that doesn't match that idea means that what she is saying is wrong. Only people who genuinely want help in therapy get help in therapy. The rest of you come because you have to, made to, want someone to say yes, you were right to do the dumb crap you did and it’s ok that you mess up other people's lives as long as you felt good about want you did.
If that is what "Anyone who you know who has spoken to her" was looking for, then yes, she definitely is their problem for not reading for the script and she is definitely not the therapist for them or you!
Truth hurts but it doesn't make it any less true. Suck it up buttercup!
Seek help elsewhere but don't come on here, behind your faceless computer and your nondescript name to malign her name.
She has done more to change the sigma of mental health in the Virgin Islands that has been done before and she will continue to do it and when she is done, her legacy will be apparent.
What will be your legacy?
Listen, you and your friends try Jesus but step all the way back off one Dr. Virginia Rubaine and you will be just fine.
God bless you!
and I quite agree that the burden should not be on the employee to prove that the money was deducted or to get themselves into good standing with the SSB board re their contributions....see first paragraph.
The SSB board also needs to have penalizing guidelines for employers of the BVI with regards to employee contributions.
I hope your brother gets through.
