ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Under brilliant sunshine, thousands of persons lined both sides of Waterfront Drive in Road Town, Tortola, for one of the highlights of the Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival- the August Monday Parade- on August 5, 2019.

Participants included the usual pageant winners such as the newly crowned Miss BVI Bria A. Smith, Mrs BVI Shondrea Turnbull, Ms Senior BVI Mariette Malone-Fahie and Mr Senior BVI Nehemiah Prince and Festival Prince and Princess, Ty'rique Charles and E’ssense Hodge-Julian respectively.

Also in the parade were the Heritage Dancers, the CTL troupe- Unity in Diversity, New Royal Festival Ensemble, BVI Dance School, ESHS Dazzling Gems, Treasures of the BVI, Financial Services Commission (FSC), One Mart and Showtime and VIBE bands.

Revellers of Showtime Band were treated to a live performance by Trinidadian Soca sensation, Destra Garcia.

The procession was led by Parade Marshall Ms Yvonne Mathavious.

The Parade started in the vicinity of Seaview Hotel and made its way to the Prime Time Festiville where the crowd followed for more entertainment.

It’s a tie for Road March crown!

Meanwhile, the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee (VIF&FC) has released the results of the parade.

The eyebrow raiser is the announcement of a tie for the Road March title between Showtime Band and VIBE Band and a title haul by New Royal Festival Ensemble.

New Royal Festival Ensemble won three categories- Cheerleaders, Majorette and Children’s Troupe.

The winning Adult Troupe is Treasures of the BVI.

Unity in Diversity- CTL was voted the best Floupe and Unmasked-FSC the Best Float.
