ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Trinidad and Tobago Soca icon Machel Montano drew a massive crowd to Rena's Festiville for the Festival Glow Night- Soca Edition on July 30, 2024, and delivered a performance that gave the partying patrons more than their money's worth.

The 49-year-old Montano belted out some of his greatest hits, as well as songs of other Caribbean artistes, and certainly shifted gears for the 70th Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival.

The mammoth crowd responded positively and energetically to his solid performance and were even taken back to Montano's boyhood days when the Soca prodigy sang 'Deh Say I Too Young for Soca'. It was a song that put Montano into the international spotlight at a tender age.

Before Montano hit the stage, several bands had the task of gradually drawing the crowd, which had grown exponentially by the time VIBE took to the stage.

One of the crowd pleasers was local band OMG.

VIBE's tribute to Jareem A. Todman

I personally think the main acts starting to late and the booth owners should complain.

    Benefits of starting earlier:

The filed will have an early and late crowd

Crowd Drinking all tgrough the night.

    Crowd eating early and late

More relax service of food and drinks.

After event with in a reasonable time more drinking and eating.

    Disadvantage of late performances;

Big crowd all at once rush for drinks

Some will be frustrated and just dont drink lines to long just enjoy the show

Long lines after event for food and drinks so late will just go home.

Booth owners can earn so much more Money it is a shame.

Also, no regsrd to the persons who are not attending and home trying to rest to go into work and the seniors who need that rest.

It was a very good night except for the late start by the performers. Organizers need to do better. Machel Montano is the greatest Soca Monarch of all time. Congratulations to him and his team.

Where was all these folks for Gospel Fest? Many in this territory are in for a rude awakening. The level of lawlessness is deep. kudos to the parents who don't allow their children to attend these shows.
