ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has said it has arrested two men and recovered a firearm, along with ammunition, following reports of two masked men seen in the vicinity of a local bank during the early morning hours of Thursday, April 24, 2025.

“Officers immediately responded and, as a result, a firearm and several rounds of ammunition were recovered.

“Two masked individuals were also pursued and arrested in connection with the incident,” the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) stated in a press release today.

The name of the bank was not disclosed.

ACoP Vanterpool commends ‘quick actions’ of officers

Acting Commissioner of Police Jacqueline E. Vanterpool praised the officers for their quick action and vigilance, and also the public for their continued support in the fight against crime.

“This operation is a clear example of our officers' courage, dedication, and tactical skill. Their quick actions may have prevented a more serious incident from occurring,” stated Commissioner Vanterpool.

“I also want to thank the public for their continued trust and cooperation. It is only by working together that we can keep our communities safe. Every bit of information helps, and we urge anyone with knowledge that may assist this investigation to come forward.”

The RVIPF said the investigation remains active and ongoing and that further updates will be provided as the investigation develops.

The RVIPF encourages anyone with information related to this or other crimes to contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 368-9339, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 or from overseas at (284) 800-8477.

    So this is good news. But; need more info on names, photos etc. what’s the point of disclosing this if no further info is available to the public?!?

      The police cannot lawful release names and photos if the persons have not been charged and if they are underaged, they cant do so at all.

    Its a commendable performance on the officers part and couragous action by the caller to notify the police. Much of these action are needed to help combat the behaviour of these criminals on our streets. Continue to perform and you'll will succeed
