ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The well-known musician from Virgin Gorda, Marcus Mark, performing under the name ‘Young Blood’, was crowned 2024 Soca Monarch when the Calypso Competition for the Virgin Islands 70th Emancipation Festival was held at Larina L. Jacobs-Lamothe Festiville on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Young Blood’s songs were Antidote and The Miseducation of Marijuana, which were enough to gain the judges’ nod.

Young Blood, who entered his first calypso competition for festival in 2015 when he placed as the First Runner Up, also won Best Lyric and Best performance on Saturday.

    It was not his first competition. He first entered some years ago when he came first runners up. He had 2 marvelous songs A big Congratulations ???? to you Young blood.

    He is no longer young, he is been at this for a long time now, writing and arranging for Makeesha from VG a former female Calypso queen...He is a very good Keyboard player musician, he just need q little more discipline and he would be Int'l. Discipline with talent together are the keys to success..

    The name Youngblood is nothing negative. The name is derived from the Indian Tribes in the South East Pacific Region and the winner is of partly Indian descent. It's no offense to anyone
