Mandarin for selected primary schools in September
The six schools selected to pilot the Mandarin programme are Ebenezer Thomas Primary, Alexandrina Maduro Primary, Bregado Flax Educational Centre- Primary Division, Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary, Joyce Samuel Primary, and Enis Adams Primary.
Mandarin will be taught from Kindergarten to Grade 2.
French will be taught at the high school level, from Grades 7 to 9.
“The ultimate goal in this process is to make at least one foreign language a compulsory core subject, and a stipulation for meeting secondary school graduation requirements in the next five years,” Hon Walwyn stated during the Eight Sitting of the Second Session of the Third House of Assembly today, June 13, 2017.
Native speakers to be hired
And according to the Education Minister, native speakers of the two languages will be hired for the introduction of the programme.
“The contractual agreements will ensure that they will also train local teachers in the use of the language, and thus ensure the development and continuity of the programme in our education system,” Hon Walwyn stated.
Mandarin is a group of related varieties of Chinese spoken across most of northern and southwestern China. It is by far the largest of the seven or ten Chinese dialect groups.

for this "do nothing education minister" focus on reading, writing and math he up and down with this sh*t about Mandarin and French
Overall they putting to much load on these kids.
Seriously though, while I admire the concept, they really need to worry about the basics first. Some of these kids can barely speak English properly.
