Man sleeps @ police station; Accuses wife of witchcraft

A married couple of 34 years has been advised to seek counselling to ensure their union last for the rest of their lives after the husband chose to sleep in the yard of the East End Police station fearful that this wife is working witchcraft. Photo: VINO/File
EAST END, Tortola, VI- A married couple of 34 years has been advised to seek counselling to ensure the union is saved after the husband chose to sleep in the yard of the East End Police Station fearful that his wife is working witchcraft.

According to persons close to the man, his wife was controlling his every movement as she feared he would leave her.

It is reported that last night, June 18, 2020, the 'straw that broke the camel’s back' occurred while the man was attempting to sleep and couldn’t.

Obeah?

He alleged that as he attempted to sleep he kept feeling a weight over his body but upon opening his eyes he did see anyone. He, however, kept on feeling the pressure every time he closed his eyes, stating that he strongly felt it was "obeah" being worked on him by his wife.

He then got out of bed and headed to the police station to file a report.

It's alleged he told police that his wife was being influenced by her family and that she has been committing the act on him because she feared he was going to end the marriage.

Controlling wife

He alleged that he feels like a prisoner in his home as his wife tries to control his every move.

Confronted by police, the wife allegedly admitted she feels her husband wants to leave her but said she has not been using witchcraft on him.

Not taking her word, the man told police that he had no other place to go and was not prepared to go back to his home for the night. He then opted to sleep in his vehicle in the East End Police Station compound.

The insecure couple was advised to seek counselling and the woman was warned to keep the peace with her husband.

This may come off as a silly story but, while we as a community progressively leave those antiquated beliefs behind for want of evidence, what remains real is that many relationships endure undue pressure from nagging and controlling wives.
Some women really drive a man up the wall for the most trivial things seem to make them upset. That attitude destroys otherwise good relationships.
Some might say that this is not only a woman issue, and I agree that men too are far from perfect. but the nagging and constant control from some wives is a real problem that needs to be addressed.

Perhaps a visit to to a psychiatric professional is what the man needs.

Witcraft eh? If a man wants to leave he will leave. If a woman wants to leave she will leave. Some women are so chill they allow the husband freedom but it is what they do with it! Same for woman. Yes go out have fun enjoy conversation with friends but not secretly having hiden conversations in a dark alley or rental or vehicle. Everything hidden comes out to light. And from what I am seeing Tortola is FULL of adulterers.

That’s the crux of the problem. The things riding some of them are the demons they playing with when they indulge in such behavior.

There is a problem here where we don't take men's issues serious enough. Theis couple need to not only see a counsellor but he needs to urgently find a Pastor with strong spiritual discernment.

This is crap. This man just wants to dirty this woman's name and character. If he has these feelings then he should just leave. If he wants out of the marriage he should just leave and not put this crap out in the public. How much attention does one need?

What has happened to this man it’s not Obeah it’s indigestion. When a person goes to sleep with his stomach too full of food and alcohol his stomach is overworked so that feeling comes over him. It’s a real feeling it happened to me when I was a teenager

So if none of you knew by now obeah&voodoo is not a ''down island thing'' neither is it a Caribbean thing . Obeah and voodoo is a Africa practice and just like everything in this world there's a good and bad . Obeah and voodoo was the same force that was used to help the slaves lift the chains of slavery throughout Hati and the Caribbean . Christianity was beaten into the slaves from the white people and the demonized obeah and voodoo so that we can fear the very practice of what helped our ancestors stop physical slavery . So when anyone tells you that christianity is yuor roots let them know that its the colonizers os what brought it to the caribbesn to enslave the people mentality for a life time . We as BVI people are still in this Jesus is coming to save us mentality not knowing if we dont save ourself no one will . Live up and stop worshiping the white God . Know your history !!
