Man dies after being shot multiple times on St Croix
FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI — A man died in the D. Hamilton Jackson Housing Community on St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI) Thursday night, May 25, 2017 after being shot multiple times about the body, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Public Information Officer Glen Dratte announced Friday, May 26, 2017.
According to Mr Dratte, at approximately 10:22 PM Thursday, an officer on patrol reported discharging of multiple shots in the housing community. Officers descended on the scene and were led to the victim’s destination by information provided to the 911 emergency call center, after multiple persons called the service in reference to the incident.
Upon arrival to the location, the officers made contact with an unresponsive male, who was pronounced dead by emergency medical technicians and medical staff on the scene, according to Mr Dratte. The VIPD is withholding the slain victim’s identity pending next of kin notification.
Police were canvassing the area for leads, according to Mr Dratte.
