Man allegedly drops firearm while running away from police

PURCELL ESTATE, Tortola, VI- Information reaching our news centre is that police have charged three persons following the discovery of a firearm in the Purcell Estate area of Tortola in the wee hours of Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

According to reports, a rental vehicle was stopped by police when a male occupant got out of the car and started running away. A firearm was reportedly dropped in the process. The individual was subsequently apprehended and all three occupants of the car, including two women, were slapped with firearm charges.

The male charged is said to be from Anguilla while the two females are said to be locals.

Videos of the incident shared with our news centre showed the two women in the company of police.

At one point, one of the women attempted to drive away in the small rental vehicle but ended up crashing on the side of the road almost immediately.

At least one of the persons, a female, has since been granted station bail, according to reports reaching our news centre.

Police did not confirm or deny the reports.

    look at the condition that the british virgin islands is in over 56 years ago. what has gone wrong in the bvi with all of these gun incidents and crime and violence and human smuggling and human trafficking? what is going on in buckingham palace or in the uk prime minister office or in the uk parliament that the bvi lawmakers are not working together to govern the territory of the bvi. look at bvi new online.

    So y'all help me understand this. The gun was found on the guy. The females were not in the vehicle at the time. The guy got out ran and drop HIS gun (Big Dummy). AND They charge all three with fire arm charges! And we wonder why the conviction rate is so low in the bvi? Make it make sense. Possession is 9/10 of the law. How can you charge the two females for something that was not found on them and not even find in the vehicle? It's like if the guy was found in the club with the gun and everyone in the club got charged. Are these police or investigator incompetent? Is the system that corrupt that they don't even care about ruining innocent people lives? That they only care about reframing someone's character and making them spend unnecessary money to protect their innocence? And before we all start to judge and point fingers talking about send of them balo, remember none of us are saints. We all have families that could have been in similar situations. People quick to judge and cast stones and we all live in glass houses.

      plus one of the young lady is already out on bail for a gun charge already she will be in jail until her case is over. the other young lady have a chance to prove herself.

      but the street is talking and before the rental was stop the young lady ms nyma told someone she gonna shot him and that how the police went to look for this rental and stop it.

      being drunk is not cool and i guess this is a lesson learn fdor her and her friends.
