M.A.L.E. hosts boys' time management retreat in VG
The theme of the retreat for school age boys both from Tortola and Virgin Gorda was Time Management as a means to being successful in any aspect of life. The Virgin Gorda retreat took place over the weekend of March 11 to 14, 2016.
According to President of M.A.L.E. Pastor Henderson K. Tittle, the boys numbering about 52 were divided into teams with a different area of focus.
He said that the retreat is something that the movement will do with the youngsters every quarter where they will go to a sister island and take part in activities meant to build their character.
“We had four groups and we gave them names of various values like self-control, gentleness, love and peace, and long-suffering. We had about four mentors who were there with us...we attended church at the Emanuel Baptist Church, we played a game of basketball, the Virgin Gorda versus Tortola boys,” he said.
“It was a time of bonding...the boys got to know each other. Our next retreat is in three months and this is something that we want to continue to do because we realised that they were not managing their time properly.
He said that during the retreat, mentors were able to monitor what time the boys woke up, what time they went to sleep, how much time they use for play and their various activities with a view to ensuring that they stick to schedules and deadlines and make the most of the time given to them.
