M.A.L.E. holds first promotion for boys
Last Saturday, November 19, 2016 the organisation promoted 10 of their boys to the level of Junior Mentors, up from the level of Mentees. According to founder of M.A.L.E. Henderson K. Tittle, the promotion is called MALE STEP UP.
"They were all give a topic to study and based on their studies they had to answer ten questions in the form of an examination and once they passed they became qualified to be promoted as Junior Mentors."
The group usually meets on Saturday from 4:00 P.M. at the Althea Scatliffe Primary School. However, last Saturday afternoon was one with a difference. "We had our first M.A.L.E. STEP UP. We graduated 10 of our mentees to Junior Mentors. We celebrate with them and look forward to seeing them excel even more," said Tittle.
The boys promoted are Akeel Thomas, Anthony Glasgow Jr, Leondré Roberts, K'Mouy Pickering, Juvan Davis, Shammah Tittle, Brent Andrew, Michael Ricketts, Dre Frett and Amari Ollivierre.
M.A.L.E. has been commended by persons, organisations and leaders from across the territory for the initiative they have taken on to mentor the young men.
According Ms Beverly Premberton, "More sub-groups of M.A.L.E. should be formed across the territory because the path our young men are taking leaves much to be desired for the men of tomorrow. Henderson, they are doing a wonderful job. One of my nephews is a part of that group and what it has done for him is amazing. He was what some people would refer to as the bad egg but now my nephew is a gentle young man and an inspiration to his brother and even to some peers in his school," related the woman.
She also admonished the business community to lend their support to M.A.L.E. to help them to expand.
