ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The GRATE BVI Music Alliance is making leaps and bounds with their valiant efforts as an independent body to uplift the status of local artists and part of this process will see Jamaican culture reggae artist Luciano performing at three events being staged here in the Virgin Islands (VI).

Come December 28, 2014 the organization will be staging its first 2014 year end  event in the form of a $100 a plate dinner specifically for corporate VI according to the group’s President Mr Eustace ‘Boss’ Freeman.

“Well great things are happening for GRATE BVI Music Alliance…. On the 28th of December we are going to be having a dinner with corporate BVI where Luciano is going to be there... the whole idea is to build a relationship with the companies in the BVI where they could have a face to the organization so they can see who they are dealing with on a day to day basis,” said Mr Freeman in a invited interview with this news site yesterday November 19, 2014.

The following day, December 29, a large number of local artists are expected to turn out for a workshop with a difference as explained by Promotional Public Relations Officer for the organization Mr Paul ‘Gadiethz’ Peart.

“The workshop is about us trying to associate ourselves with the Deejays of the various radio stations, the owners of the radio stations, the members of the Alliance and artists that are interested in promoting their materials through the Alliance will get an opportunity to get a one-on-one with some of the most known Disc Jockeys here in the British Virgin Islands and Luciano will be coming through with his managers and engineers to actually interact with the persons [at the workshop],” explained Mr Peart.

He further said that they find such an event necessary as they continue the process of attempting to structure the entertainment industry. “It’s going to take organizing and centralizing of this product to really make it worthwhile. It’s very important for artists, when they are promoting their material the disc Jockeys that are spinning their materials and interacting with the owners of these radio stations because there is a separation between artists and promotion of their materials so therefore it gets thrown in the trash sometimes and because it’s not under the proper umbrella,” said Mr Peart.

The other objective of such a programme is for artists to feel comfortable in the company of the GRATE BVI Music Alliance especially when they have promotional needs. “When the Alliance is going to promote one of its members it will be something that will have a central point where they have to run around we are going to be to facilitate them in getting their promotion and all the media houses,” Mr Peart further added.

The big thing happens on December 31, 2014 which will see all and sundry having the opportunity to be entertained by Luciano and friends which will also see a number of local performers taking the stage for this promising massive promotional concert. “This is the icing on the cake as the President would say. It’s a three layer where you would have the dinner, the workshop and then the live in concert with Luciano so that is actually the icing on the cake for the 31st where Luciano is going to be here from the 27th up until the 3rd interacting with members and non-members of the GRATE BVI Music Alliance,” said Mr Peart.

He said that their choice of Luciano was one that was influenced by the spiritual nature of the international artist. He said that during Luciano’s last appearance here in the VI the experience was one that was in no doubt uplifting to the spirit and this time around with the combination of being backed by the Alliance Band – no foreign band – and local artists including Sistah Joyce, Rytical, Drastic, Ras Zulu, Showtime Band and DJ Fabio all in the halls of the Multi-Purpose Complex in Road Town this time is going to be even more an inspiration for all ages.

Tickets are already out for the grand concert and can be sourced from the Hazim’s Shoe Store & Beauty Supply, Bolo’s and members of the GRATE Music Alliance.
