ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Virgin Islands Department of Disaster Management (DDM) is warning that thunderstorm activities could come as a result of lingering moisture in the air.

The DMM in a weather update said in the next 24 hours, a combination of light southerly winds, daytime heating and available low level moisture could trigger localized shower and thunderstorm activity over and around the islands during that time.

Weather today: Partly sunny and slightly hazy skies at first, with periods of increased cloudiness and a 60 percent or high chance of localized showers. There’s also a slight chance of an isolated thunderstorm developing.

Weather tonight: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a 50 percent or moderate chance of evening showers, with a gradual decrease in cloudiness and shower activity overnight.

Winds: South at 4 to 11 km/h or 2 to 7 mph becoming calm at times..
Seas: Not exceeding 1.2 metres or 4 feet.

Sunset today:  5:55 pm.
