Lorie A. Freeman tipped to be Director of Social Security Board

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Virgin Islander Ms Lorie A. Freeman has been approved by Cabinet to become the new Director of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) Social Security Board.

The instrument of appointment was formally presented to the House of Assembly (HoA) by the Minister for Health and Social Development, Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley (R9), during the closing session of the Twenty First Sitting of the First Session of the Fifth House of Assembly (HoA) on December 19, 2024.

The appointment is carried out in accordance with Section 7(1)(AB) of the Social Security Ordinance, according to the instrument laid.

Jeanette A. Scatliffe-Boynes out

While the minister tabled the instruments of appointment in the House, he noted that the decision is subject to a negative resolution, which means it will take effect unless formally objected to within a stipulated time frame.

Ms Freeman will replace retired Diretor Mrs Jeanette A. Scatliffe-Boynes. 

An Accountant, Ms Freeman holds Bachelor and Master’s Degrees and has been with the organisation for over ten years.

    I admonish you not to allowed political Leaders to dip their hands in in our Social security money as was done, according to passed reports.
