Lone campaigner! Dr Pickering to hold meeting @ Stickit Thursday
‘Time to reset’
Dr Pickering, who has already launched his campaign to contest the Seventh District, will be holding a public meeting in the district under the theme ‘Time to Reset’ on Thursday, September 22, 2022.
The meeting will be held at The Stickit at 7:30 pm and topics to be addressed include ‘Our relationship with the UK’, ‘Our Politics’, Our Way Forward’, and ‘Our Children’s Future’.
Dr Pickering, who held office for some 20 years (1999-2019), will be coming up against Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) for the Seventh District seat.
It is expected that there will be about four persons in the 2023 race for the Seventh District seat, along with Dr Pickering and Dr Wheatley. According to sources in the NDP, former banker Kevon S. Lettsome is expected to be their candidate for D7. In addition, residents in the Seventh District have told our news centre that the Water and Sewerage Director Mrs Perline R. Scatliffe-Leonard is considering a run in D7.
In the 2019 election in a three-person race, Dr Wheatley of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) received 384 votes to Dr Pickering’s 338. The National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate Hipolito D. Penn received 136.
Candidates declared
This brings to five the number of candidates declared for the Virgin Islands’ General Election constitutionally due by the second quarter of 2023.
The others are Lesmore Smith and Shaina M. Smith-Archer of Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM); Bevin S. George, who has not stated his party affiliation; and Independent Candidate Rosemary Cindy Rosan.

Mistakes and wrongs are not easy to get over and is something people will hold us on for a long time. I do believe people can learn from errors and do right. I will listen to the Dr. and hear what he has to say.

You again posting unintelligible garbage.
If you take the time to write at least do it so people can understand what you are saying.
so far we have absolutly no representation at all. the unity party keep saying we are all there for you....but WHO do we address our issues to. no one in government reply to letters or return phone calls.
VIP was always available to anyone. unity party the door is ckosed...too high and mighty.
BRING BACK VIP
History will also recall NDP members contributed to the confusion the territory is now facing with the united kingdom
Why you don't work with one of the young aspirants like Bevin or Shaq. Why you have to be the one center stage? Why don't you throw your support behind younger candidates and work as a part of their team as an advisor?
Because you are power hungry and want to be relevant again.
what is going on with district 1
