Speaker's legal fees issue moves to HoA special committee

DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- Moments ago in the Virgin Islands (VI) House of Assembly (HoA), Premier and Minister of Finance Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) moved a motion relating to the possible exemption of the Speaker of the House of Assembly (HoA), Hon Julian Willock from having to pay legal fees in the withdrawn case brought against the three Commission of Inquiry (CoI) lawyers accused of illegally practising law in the [British] Virgin Islands.

DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI - Government critic and talk show host, Rosemary Cindy Rosan-Jones said if members of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government can come forward and admit they were behind the injunction filed by the House of Assembly (HoA) Speaker, Hon Julian Willock, against the three Commission of Inquiry (CoI) lawyers, then she would accept that the state would have to pay the legal fees.

Acting AG rules Deputy Speaker can preside over motion to exempt Speaker

DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- Acting Attorney General in the Virgin Islands (VI) House of Assembly (HoA), Ms Jo-Ann Williams-Roberts has ruled that Deputy Speaker Neville A. Smith (AL) can preside over the motion to exempt House Speaker Hon Julian Willock from paying legal fees in the discontinued case against the three Commission of Inquiry (CoI) lawyers working in the territory without being called to the local Bar.
