WICKHAM’S CAY 1, Tortola, VI- Faced with the prospect of losing his “lifetime investments” and feeling like he has run out of options, local businessman Bettito Frett has turned to the public for finance assistance, which he has promised to repay.

In a social media post recently, Mr Frett described the request as an urgent one.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is an urgent request from your local, devoted friend Bettito Frett. I am appealing to you for assistance, financial assistance that is.

“I have been wronged and I stand to lose my lifetime investments and in the circumstances, I am requesting a private loan in the amount of $150.000, repayable one year after the date of issue. Repayment will be guaranteed by way of security to the lender.”

Mr Frett added that the funds are needed before or on July 23, 2023, to pay security for legal costs into the courts and “failure to pay will lead to my appeal case being thrown out or dismissed.

“Please assist me in my quest to preserve my investment and get justice. I can be contacted on 499-1144 or you can email me at bfrealestatevi@gmail.com,” Mr Frett appealed.

Mr Frett optimistic about winning court appeal

Speaking to our news centre today, July 14, 2023, Mr Frett said he has not turned to any other bank or the Government for help because he is not optimistic they will be willing to help.

While Mr Frett declined to give information about the court matter he needs the money for, he said he has a good chance of winning the appeal as the Judge reportedly said he has “an arguable point.”

Further, Mr Frett said he would be willing to pay up to 50% interest on the loan.

He also said the lender does not have to be one person but it could be a group of persons.

The local businessman was one of many whose properties were hard hit by the hurricanes of 2017 and has found the going tough afterward.

Do you have $150,000 of unincumbered assets?
There is no point offering security over an asset that is already charged to the bank and in which there is no equity.

STOP continually chasing the all-mighty dollar and retire like the rest of us. We are the same age and I have worked my entire life and have no mortgage, no outstanding bills, I shop wisely and go on vacations when I want to and sleep soundly and happily for my remaining years. That is peace of mind. I could not imagine still running around trying to still make deal after deal, which might cause my early demise. RELAX and ENJOY YOURSELF, man!

If you aren’t willing to help Mr. Frett then don’t bother to comment. Did you stop to think that perhaps all his properties are tied up with the bank therefore, if he were to sell, funds obtained from the sale would immediately go to the bank towards outstanding debts? Use your common sense.

yes i did use my common sense, he wants $150k for a court case he could lose easliy and he offers what as security if not property? Think before you blog

You are correct - everything he owns is charged to the bank. That is exactly what he has no security to offer.

I don’t have it and even if I did, NOT a dime of mine.
They need to get their acts together.
Betito if u have to sell to save, u have to compromise and do what u have to do.
My advice to the lenders, “BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT LEND WHAT U CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE.”

How beautiful socialism will be like when yashua break 1 loaf of bread and feed everyone which is exactly socialism, rather than the capitalist behavior of burning money on beers, smoking and other waste of conspicuous consumption be it cloth unhealthy food to give heart attack, form a organization to help build BVI people, when you lose you property to foreign banks, it's your ancestors who shed tears and blood so you could have it, so let's all get together and help retain it. When you go on the stock market and hear the billions these beer and coca cola company make, put your excessive funds towards helping someone, in the vicissitudes of time you may need help, so build the culture of helping BVI born.

Also, if he owes the bank money that he hasn't paid back on time, they will not re-loan him any money. What is his history of re-payment? If I loaned you money and you found it difficult to repay me, I wouldn't deal with you again. I've been burned twice by borrowers and even though I sued them, I never got my money back, so not me again, ever!

Too good to be true….Up to 50% interest? Is that simple interest, or are we talking 4.2% a month. Is he omonthly payments? What is the source of the payments? What is the collateral? You’d think he’d at least describe what security he offers. Other commenters have asked about his record of payment. He says he needs the money to pay legal costs, but won’t reveal details other than allegation that the judge says he has an “arguable point”, which does not assure victory. Seems like Mr. Frett has made some less than ideal business decisions, and now must face the consequences.
