LIME announces $100K giveaway
The announcement was made by Manager for Marketing and Corporate Communications, Mr Kareem-Nelson Hull, during the telecommunications company’s ‘Year of LIME’ launch at their flagship store in Road Town.
The launch signals the beginning of LIME’s business calendar which runs from April of each year.
Persons promoting causes under three areas of philanthropic focus, LIME 4 LIFE- supporting health and wellness initiatives; LIME SMART- encouraging educational, cultural and performing arts initiatives and PLAY, WIN, LIME- empowering sporting and competitive initiatives are eligible to apply for funding from the company to assist with their causes.
The company will announce the awardees of the funding on May 4, 2014 during LIME’s ‘Night of a Hundred Thousand Dreams’.
Hull also announced LIME’s plans to introduce ‘LIME week’ from April 27-May 4 and described the initiative as the company’s attempt to inject a period set aside specifically for ‘something positive’ in the Territory.
Commenting on the initiative, General Manager at LIME BVI, Mr Sean Auguste, expressed that the company is seeking to become more structured in the coming year with regard to its sponsorship and public relations.
He related that LIME will ultimately dole out in excess of the amount announced in other sponsorship initiatives and urged persons to approach the company as early as possible with regard to funding requests. “It is not so much that we are spending $100,000… but I can assure you that we’ve been doing this for a number of years now,” he disclosed.
He also noted that while the company’s previous financial year had its challenges the company still managed to hit its targets.
