ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley in his holiday message to the Virgin Islands (VI) called for reflection on the reason for the season, Christ.

Premier Wheatley called this time one of joy, reflection and hope.

Reminiscing on Christmas past in the VI, Premier Wheatley said it has always been a time of warmth and togetherness.

“I recall Christmases in the past filled with the joyous sound of carollers, the tantalising aromas of traditional dishes whiffing through the air and the sight of families coming together to celebrate the spirit of the season. These cherished memories remind us of the deep root of our culture and the resilience of our community,” he said.

Reflect on Christ’s birth- Premier Wheatley

Premier Wheatley encouraged all to also reflect on the birth of Christ while celebrating today, Christmas Day, calling it the true reasons for the celebrations.

“His birth in a humble manger symbolises hope, love, and a promise of a better tomorrow. In the spirit of Christ’s teaching, let us open our heart to those in need. The true spirit of Christmas is not only in the gifts we give but, in the love, and kindness we extend to one another,” he continued.

The Premier urged those in the Virgin Islands, to reach out to someone in need, share a meal, offer a helping hand or even just share a moment of companionship.

“Together, let us embody the essence of hope and compassion, let our actions ripple through our communities bringing light into every corner of our islands,” he said.

Premier Wheatley also shared in the hope of this Christmas being a time of renewed faith, love and unity for all.

“May the love and light of Christmas fill your homes and hearts. I wish you and your families a joyous Christmas filled with peace, love and hope for the future and a prosperous New Year,” the Premier stated.

I too remember the excitement surrounding Christmas as a child. However I have grown to realize that there is a lot more to the holidays Christmas and Easter than we have been taught. First of all the birth of "Jesus" is not historical and cannot in reality be the reason for the season. This narrative has grown to be the root of what has become the most dangerous time in the existence of humanity and must be confronted. It is disappointing to hear you as the leader of the Virgin Islands expressing views that are nothing more than enslavement. For our survival we must come to terms with the fact that Christmas and Easter were created by the Roman Catholic Church and are the foundational pillars of White Supremacy and Domination. I know it will be hard for those of you that are bound by the last bonds of slavery to understand but be assured that this is about to change as we see the world in the greatest revolution that humanity has ever been involved in. Mr Premier I know that you are just about doing and saying what you believe will bring you votes but freeing the minds of our people is the most urgent task of our generation and it would be most helpful if our elected representatives were up to the task and not just self seeking. Tell the truth...the reason for the season is to make more money for who got plenty. After the big excitement the masses broke like a dog in January.
