'Let us all commit to driving responsibly'- Hon Rymer

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) has emphasised the importance of safe driving practices and is urging motorists to exercise extreme caution on the Territory’s roads.

He also called on the public to prioritise road safety to prevent devastating incidents in the future.

Hon Rymer, who is the Minister responsible for roads, was at the time expressing condolences to the family of Trellis Bay Market Bar and Grill staff Donavan Burton, 33, who lost his life in a lone-vehicle accident at Major Bay on the eastern end of Tortola on November 21, 2024.

'Adhere to speed limits'- Hon Rymer

"It is crucial to adhere to speed limits and remain vigilant, especially in challenging conditions,” Honourable Rymer said, adding, “Let us all commit to driving responsibly and looking out for one another during these difficult times. Safe driving saves lives."

In expressing condolences to the family of Jamaican national Mr Burton, Honourable Rymer stated, "This heartbreaking incident happened on Thursday, November 21, and our thoughts are with those injured and currently receiving treatment at Dr Orlando Smith Hospital."

Burton was a passenger in the car that slammed into a fence. Two others were injured.
