Leslee J. Smith’s double double keeps Bristol flying high




The Flyers were led by a strong performance by Smith, who was a consistent presence on both offence and defence playing almost the entire game, scoring 21 points on 66% shooting, adding 10 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists and 1 block.
Smith hit 9 of 10 free throws.
Though up by as many as 23 points in the fourth, Bristol kept the pressure on until the buzzer, beating Giants 93-72.
Edwin leads the Flashes, but can’t stop the Bobcats
Meanwhile, on Friday January, 2017, Deon J. Edwin and the Kent State University men's basketball team (9-6, 1-1 MAC) took its first conference loss of the season on the road, falling to the Ohio Bobcats (10-3, 2-0 MAC), 85-67.
Edwin led the Golden Flashes in the scoring column, with 16 points on 7-for-13 shooting. He also had nine rebounds and a team-best three assists. Jimmy Hall was the team's leading rebounder and secured a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jaylin Walker was the team's third scorer in double figures, with 12 points.
Despite the loss, Kent State won the rebounding battle, 47-35, with 22 offensive rebounds.
The Flashes return home to face Northern Illinois on Tuesday, January 10 at 7:00 P.M.
