ST GEORGE’S, Grenada- Former General Manager of the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) Mr Leroy A.E. Abraham has taken up a similar role in the Spice Isle of Grenada.

According to a press release on Grenada Now on September 25, 2024, the "Grenada Electricity Services Ltd. (Grenlec) is pleased to announce the appointment of Leroy A E Abraham as Grenlec’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective Tuesday, 1 October 2024."

Stellar service @ BVIEC

Mr Abraham retired in December 2022, after almost 22 years at the helm of BVIEC.

It is believed Mr Abraham had started out at the BVI Electricity Corporation some 35 years ago and understudied the former General Manager Ronnie W. Skelton, who became a Minister of Government and a Deputy Chief Minister.

Abraham took the reign as GM in 2000 following the retirement of Mr Skelton some 22 years later.

During his tenure at BVIEC, Mr Abraham was praised for his quick and effective response after many hurricanes to restore power to residents. He was instrumental in the purchase of new engines for the Corporation that stabilised the electric grid in the Territory.

Mr Abraham was appointed in 2021 as the Chairman of the prestigious Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) and is the first Virgin Islander to be so appointed.

No matter how much people will try to stop you, one thing they can not take from you is your experience-which you gain over years. You can not stop progress regardless of what bad minded people try to do. He will do great in that new role.

So question for all the people here who say that immigrants should not get top jobs in the BVI despite being qualified, what do you say now when Mr. Abraham is an immigrant in Grenada and get top (CEO) job of their company?

      You sound dumb.
The problem isn't expats getting top job.
The problem is expats getting top jobs that a local still have to train them to do.
Unless you have experienced this then please shut up.
