Legalizing Same-Sex marriages 'not on my agenda at all'– Premier
Premier and Minister for Finance Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) told reporters during a press conference on Friday, November 26, 2021, that as a result, making it legal is not among his immediate plans as the leader of the country.
“I have always made it clear my religious beliefs doesn’t allow me to move in that direction. So I would have to see what’s happening but that has been Andrew A. Faihie’s mindset.”
He stated that despite his mindset, there are legal challenges with this particular issue, and “we will have to see how that goes.”
Nothing against persons
Hon Fahie also said his beliefs did not mean that he was against persons who are openly gay.
“It is nothing against the persons, I want you to understand I don’t ever look down on anyone, we all have our own religious beliefs. But, I don’t believe in hiding what I am doing and sometimes it is taken out of context by those who want to create mischief."
Hon Fahie continued, " I think everyone is God’s children and he loves us all and it is up to us what we want to do and I wish everyone well no matter what they choose, I am not against persons as individuals but just in terms of my religious upbringing I stated that but I really do respect each and every individual, man or woman.”
Not on agenda
“I would say right now I don’t see it as something that I will be pushing … It is not one of those things on my agenda at all, and it is no offense to anyone. I know that these things create some stir but at the end of the day I don’t want persons to be wondering what I am thinking, it is not one of those things on my agenda,” the premier asserted.
More and more countries are making it acceptable and legal for persons of the same sex to marry

Matthew 19: 9 - Now I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman, commits adultery.
Headlines: The territory’s leader said making same-sex marriages acceptable in the Virgin Islands is against his religious beliefs and is not something that is currently on the Government's agenda.
Look at the tenses in this scripture. The man who divorces on grounds other than his wife’s sexual immorality IS committing adultery with another woman because he IS still married to his wife. So, the “divorce” is not a divorce. That is why the Bible says the adulterous woman will be bitter wormwood. God does not bless wickedness. The Bible can’t lie and it cannot be misinterpreted; it is plain and straightforward.
Think deep deep deep and see how full of wisdom God is.
God’s word says for a divorce to take place the spouse who divorcing the other spouse must divorce on the grounds of the latter spouse’s sexual immorality for there to be a divine divorce. If spouse 1 divorces spouse 2 but spouse 2 was not sexually immoral, then both spouses are still married. Spouse 1 did not obtain a divorce on the grounds of spouse 2 immorality. If spouse 1 then goes on to marry another man or woman, the Bible says spouse 1 is committing adultery. But BVI laws says spouse 1 and the adulterous man/woman are married so in BVI adultery is legalized.
Go comprehend the Scriptures.
U dam right mr fahie .... The devil is so f*****g crafty just reading some these comments these s*****es have up quoting scriptures to defiles ur stands ...marriage and homosexuality got nothing in common. Ones is god and the other is of that crafty breast
yes, perhaps the devil is using you as his mouthpiece to spread his hatred? I like to remind myself of John 4:7 "let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God". You may care to refer to Leviticus, a book of men, written in the pre-Christian era which speaks of hatred and frankly nonsense folklore ("Do not wear clothing woven from two different kinds of thread") but my God is the Christian god of love. Worry not, @courageous, I will pray for you and ask that God saves you from your demonic possession of hatred.
I can respect that answer. Legal issues I laugh. If a man sells out his religion how can he be trusted to abide by the Ten Commandments.
Don’t forget about the herbs in genesis. As for gambling... life is a gamble & we’re already playing the game haha.
Find another word and stop refering to us as homophobic.
Nobody deserves to have anyone else judging their sexuality. It is not a choice. Just because a made up book from thousands of years ago provides some questionable guidance on this does not give you the right to judge people who have different sexual orientation to you.
"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs."
It is a lesson many of our Pastors also seem to ignore. Isn't faith wonderful when you can ignore the parts that you don't want to apply to you...
