ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The National Security Council (NSC) of the Virgin Islands (VI) after a meeting of Friday, May 17, 2024, says it considers the murder of two adult males earlier yesterday morning in Huntums Ghut, to be a tragic loss of two lives and expressed its sympathies for the loved ones of the victims.

The NSC comprises the Governor, as Chairman and members, including the Premier, the Minister for Communications and Works, the Attorney General and the Commissioner of Police.

The council in a statement said the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) updated it on the incident and set out the next steps in their investigation,“The NSC was grateful for the quick response by the RVIPF and offered its full support for the police investigation,” the statement added.

Come forward with information - NSC

The Council is calling on anyone with any relevant information to be in touch with the police without delay or by calling Crime Stoppers and the confidential and untraceable hotline 800-8477[TIPS], 800-847-8477 and 368-9339.

“NSC remains committed to working with the community to improve security and, in the context of its response to the forthcoming  law enforcement review; it will develop a strategy to respond effectively to gun crime in the Virgin Islands.”

The NSC added that it considers matters relating to internal security and any significant security developments in the Territory, including the occurrence of significant criminal activity.

Two men were yesterday Friday killed at around 1:00 AM, in the Huntum’s Ghut area on the main Island of Tortola with investigations currently ongoing.

They are believed to be of Hispanic origin and were killed close to a popular bar in the area.

We need a new DPP - one that can actually prosecute rather than just issue press releases saying how important she it.

Same story we hear every time. God knows what's going on with all the illegal immigrants and Columbians not returning to ship. Stop spending unless it is to secure the place while it is possible.

You all are not serious everything has to be a secret and then asking the public for information. If a murder happen in town with a suspect description, number of assailants & they escaped in a red car license plate XXXX.

By the time they reach on the mountain the license plate may say YXYYY BUT the neighbors might see the car & people they know acting out of ordinary & suspicious adrenaline running high. The tsunami alarm should be fitted to alert residents to stay indoors at critical times & incase of a mass shooter. Road block & road cameras should be an option.

Im not getting paid for this, they are!

Pray for the Young Men in the BVI

All these young men dying just like that - some from accidents and incidents, some being gunned down, shot to death, killed on scooters etc.

Then we have an other set of young men sleeping on the street, begging for money and becoming mentally insane from drugs and whatever the cause.

Then we have the other set ending up in prison or involve in criminal activities, some do not want to work and is no benefit to their families, the church, their communities and society as well.

Soon it would not have any man for the young women to married to and young children will be growing up in a fatherless society.

    NOTE:
There are more than one hundred plus (100 plus) Unsolved Murders and in the British Virgin Islands and the list is increasing daily. Are we waiting for more?
