Kevon S. Lettsome & Clifton Forbes confirmed to run with PLM for D7 & D3 seats
They are Kevon S. Lettsome in District Seven and Clifton Forbes in District Three. Mr Lettsome, a banker who moved to the United States about three years ago, had announced in April 2022 that he was running for the same seat. However, months later he quit the race for the 2023 elections and threw his support behind incumbent and Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7).
Who is Kevon S. Lettsome?
Over the years, Mr Lettsome has shown instability, moving from political party to party, starting out as a strong Virgin Islands Party (VIP) supporter where he was active in Congress and Youth Activities.
In his bid for the 2023 elections, before he abandoned the race, he was associated with the National Democratic Party (NDP) and attended, according to party officials, many of their political meetings during the candidate’s selection process.
Recently, it was alleged that he flirted with the ‘ALL 13’ group but never formally joined the organisation. However, last night, via a call to the PLM Headquarters from overseas, Mr Lettsome confirmed his intentions to join and run with the PLM, according to party officials familiar with the decision.
In 2023, Mr Lettsome was charged with Uttering a Forged Document, contrary to section 242 of the Criminal Code of 1997. However, many social and political observers said this was part of a broader conspiracy to reach another ‘big fish’, the real target. It is unclear if the case is still ongoing.

D3, here comes Clifton Forbes
Meanwhile, the race in District Three is becoming interesting. At last night’s PLM meeting, Mr Clifton Forbes confirmed his intention to run with the group for the District Three seat. Forbes, a former vocational teacher at both Elmore Stoutt High School and the Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies, where he rose to Assistant Principal, will be the PLM candidate.
Mr Forbes is also a cyclist and is best known for his cultural contributions, including donkey riding and other cultural promotion activities. Following his retirement from the education system, Mr Forbes became a contractor. Entering the race in District Three will put Forbes against the NDP’s Aaron F. Parillon and Mr Julian Willock, who is expected to run with the VIP.
PLM party boss Mark H Vanterpool did not immediately confirm reports of Lettsome and Forbes joining the party, but promised to address the reports during the course of the day.

All I can do is still wish them the best.
For me, it’s a hard no for the young man. I don’t have the confidence that he is the person this district needs at this point in our history.
Nevertheless… Who ever the district chooses should be guided by a moral compass.. not wickedness, corruption, selfishness, or the pursuit of power for its own sake.
This territory needs to be nurtured back to health. We need leaders willing to listen, heal, rebuild, collaborate, and put the needs of the people before their own interests..
The 7th District deserves representation worthy of its history and the BVI deserves leadership worthy of its future.

Forbes I believe you care. All the best to both of you. But please understand the compromises you will have to make in politics. And the truths you will be forced not to acknowledge. It may not be worth it to gain the world and lose your soul.
I predict a low turnout for elections. And judging from the candidates ppl are fed up with our situation in HOA. True leadership is missing, we lack people with the scruples to do the right things. We have ppl we are easily misled and hate the truth and accountability. I hope the youth can see that they are not role models to aspire to be like and can learn from their mistakes. We empowered some fresh blood and they lost focus quickly amd worked on their own agenda and not for the ppl. We need a reset.
If three, four, five, or even six people are contesting the same district, hold a preliminary vote and allow the two candidates receiving the most votes to advance to the General Election.
At-Large candidates would continue under the existing system.
The purpose is simple: narrow crowded district races to two candidates and then let the people make the final decision in the General Election. With six people contesting one district, the vote can become heavily divided.
District preliminary election → Top two advance → General Election → The people decide.
