Karen C. Vanterpool & Rosita Scatliffe-Thompson enter 2023 elections race
Already in campaign mode, Karen C. Vanterpool and Rosita Scatliffe-Thompson are vying for At Large and District 4 seats respectively.
Ms Vanterpool, speaking exclusively to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), said her bid was about seven years in the making, since attending university, and that through prayers and guidance from God, she felt now is the right time to come forward and serve the country in elected office.
She added that she is well known for being Miss Gorgeous 1986 in Virgin Gorda and disclosed to our news centre that she already has great support from the Virgin Gorda community as well as from a large family and community members and is looking to do the best she can for the VI.
Ms Vanterool has a BsC in Business Management, Associate [Degree] in Business Administration, Associate in Accounting, and an Associate in Construction Technology with some 28 plus years of experience in the telecommunications industry going all the way back to Cable and Wireless.
No fear to run- Ms Vanterpool
She is also a Member of the BVI Cancer Society and is a Virgin Islander by birth and plans to go all in representing the Virgin Islands.
“I am not fearful at all, our country needs new leadership and that’s the bottom line… we are just on a trajectory that’s going straight down,” she said, while adding that the UK could already be waiting to see the results.
“If I don’t do it at this time, then when? Our country needs and is crying out for leadership… I worked as a civil servant, so I know what I am talking about,” she said.
Ms Vanterpool said should she be elected she will look out for the underdogs in the VI, such as the youth, the elderly, and widows to offer financial support and more.
Scaatlifee-Thompson could not be reached for comments up to publications time; however, she plans to campaign on ‘integrity over influence’ and, according to a campaign poster, is committed, innovative, resilient, attentive and hardworking.
The House of Assembly (HoA) has already been dissolved; however, a date for elections has not yet been called.

Don’t throw away your money and time darlings.
Mark my word!
Hopefully all other that are, and will seek a seat in the HoA are at the integrity level needed to help make the BVI a more friendlier, and more prosperous BVI, Spiritually, socially, educationally, economically for hopefully all the citizens of this Country, and visitors, too.
Another great word is the word community.
Community means commission to ensure unity.
Are we a community minded people? Not yet., but it is achievable, with God, and co-operation with each other.
Note:. It is possible, but not without integrity-minded actions.
Oh My God!!! I better be running too. Is this a joke or what?? This Ms Gorgeous, isn"t she the same one whose Step son f*** from his ministry with immediate effect?
Do we forget so soon. Word is that she was very u*pr*******l and man******e during her short stint in the ministry of Education. What are your plans should you be elected? What if the party of her step son get voted in, will she be now permanent secretary to him or his deputy>
What a thing to tell the King!!!
maybe the one with the nose can take her nomination fee and go pay the b888888......Talking about degrees? degrees does give people sense? pure trouble. Really think you can be honourable and people will put you in? I doubt any of them own family going vote for them. The C&W former staff aint going vote for her, the college people with same degrees aint going vote for her and the church people ain't going vote for her. The 2 of them full of themself and full a pride, so please go run for something else. Fix ayo house first before trying to come fix the country. have a seat and siddung. If the people stupid enough to vote for them, the 2 ah dem going drive and walk all over the people
none of the parties want them anyway,
Parties what??? The one that split into two or the one that thief all the money for the last 4 years. I wouldn't join any of those "parties" at all. It's time for independent thinkers. Best of luck to both of them - anything is better than this sh** show we have had for over a decade.
Come on man.
Paul on the ball and these two ladies are spoilers, placed there for specific reasons by certain people.
Use recently Elected Women in Nevis fiasco as an example.
Utter confusion with so much of them in this mix.
To be honest. Where were these two before now? Should have been hearing from them earlier than now so the people get to know them more. Not just wait until the dissolution of the House of Assembly and jump out here telling people you all running in the upcoming elections. Stop confusing the electorate man. It’s so wrong. Tell the people the truth. Which party are you secretly affiliated with.
Rosie I know was affiliated with the Lions Club years ago. Then she disappeared. Other than that? A lot of people don’t know them. If what the bloggers a saying are facts, it’s certainly not encouraging.
Uall just go ahead and vote your choicr and stop bringing down the people dem.
