Justin Solomon is Junior Cycling Champion!

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The BVI Cycling Federation hosted it 2nd Annual Junior Championship, sponsored by Harney’s last Sunday July 1, 2012 at which seven junior cyclists participated with Justin Solomon emerging as the champ.

The race started at the vicinity of West End Police Station and from very early in the race Justin Solomon and Ricardo Jones broke away from the group. From there it was a battle between the two riders for the 3 laps/30 miles of the Under 17 category. However, in a sprint finish, Solomon took the gold in a time of 1:44:49 over the 30 mile course. Second was Jones in a time of 1:44:58 and third Melvin Knight in 1:56:28.

In the Under 15 category, there was three competitor of which Dominic Penn took first place in a time of 1:12:35 in the 2 laps/20miles course. Shamoy Christopher took second in a time of 1:12:46 and Raffique Pope took third place in 1:22:35.
