SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, BVI - In their continued efforts to give back to District Three, former Speaker of the House of Assembly (HoA) Mr Julian Willock and businesswoman Kishma P. Forbes of the Virgin Islands School and Office Supplies teamed up again to make a contribution.

This time they donated over a thousand dollars ($1000.00) worth of items to Ebenezer Thomas Primary School in Sea Cows Bay.

According to a press release received today, September 18, 2023, the donated items included 6 power fans, a Glue Gun with Glue Sticks, a Laminating Machine, and a variety of snacks.

With everyone complaining of the heat, the fans might be most appreciated.

Mr Willock noted that “Government cannot do everything” so he and Ms Forbes decided to partner with the private sector to make the donation possible. The three sponsors are Smith Gore- BVI Real Estate, Skelton Group of Companies, and Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina. Both Mr Willock and Ms Forbes are alumni of the school.

Mr Willock also acknowledged others in the community who continue to make donations to the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School (ETPS), including the Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser RA.

Speaking at the event was Ms Sandra L. Grisham, the Director of Business Development for Scrub Island, who noted how happy her company was to partner on this project and asked students to stay focused, as their education is important. She noted that she was impressed with the student assembly and could see “one of the students taking my job soon.”

We thank youPrincipal

Principal of the ETPS Ms Ashkisha N. Maduro noted that she was “excited about the partnership" and thanked "Mr Willock and Ms Forbes as well as the corporate partners for the support of my school".

Last August 2023, both Mr Willock and Ms Forbes teamed up for a back-to-school giveaway for over 130 students in District Three.

Mr Willock noted at that time he received the long list of items needed at the school and promised the principal that she would “hear from both him and Ms Forbes”.

Additionally, Mr Willock put out a challenge to the school to be a part of the District Three festival troupe for the 2024, 70th anniversary of the Emancipation celebrations. He said he wanted to see a children and adult portion making up the troupe from District Three.

Mr Willock also announced that a job fair is being planned for District Three as well as a food pantry. He noted that it was his hope to partner with District Three Representative Hon Fraser whom both he and Ms Forbes have already reached out to via a letter to make these plans possible.

Ayo reach out to Fraser but I do not see him responding positively. I voted for him every election I voted by I told him this time was the last as clearly his time is now up. He served well but enough is enough.

Good to see the private sector involved, dispute the economy not growing, but it’s flat but thank god it is not too little, too late.
