BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- Social Commentator and Host of Honestly Speaking, Pastor Claude O. Skelton-Cline, has said retired civil servant Mrs Jovita Mercer-Scatliffe can win District Six in a general election with the right party.

Mr Skelton-Cline threw out that suggestion on the October 13, 2026, episode of his show titled ‘Political Molestation’.

He said if the House of Assembly votes to expand the number of elected officials to 15, he will list 15 people on next week’s show who he believes the Virgin Islands should vote for.

Jovita can take the 6th

“There’s a young lady, I think she’ll make a great member of the House of Assembly, out of the Sixth District…Jovita Mercer-Scatliffe is her name,” he said, adding that he would like to see her in the race.

According to him, Mrs Mercer-Scatliffe possesses a tremendous gift in grace and has laboured in public office.

“She can take the Sixth on the right team. She’s gonna be one of the 15 people I'll list,” Skelton-Cline said.

The current representative of the Sixth District is the controversial Honourable Myron V. Walwyn.

The BVI is a very nice place. It could be a GREAT place, with the right people in charge!

The field is still open, but Myron is the clear frontrunner. Turning the tide against him is possible, but it would require a major shift. As things stand, it's improbable.

I think you are being perjudicial. She might put up a great fight in Baughers Bay and Belle Vue/Manchester, but will have hell in Purcell. The incumbent will have enough votes in both former areas and overwhelmingly more in the latter to win the race.
