Jehovah’s Witnesses return to door-to-door ministry in VI

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Many residents of the VI and around the world are familiar with the work of Jehovah’s Witnesses and their trademark door-to-door ministry to share their beliefs and share JW publications like the Awake and Watchtower magazines.

However, the visitation work of the religious organisation was suspended for two and a half years over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Door-to-door Ministry & Bible study

Nevertheless, Jehovah’s Witnesses will resume their door-to-door ministry beginning September 1, 2022, in the Virgin Islands.

Additionally, it will launch a global campaign featuring an interactive programme for Bible study.

The religious group in a press release noted, “The decision to resume their door-to-door ministry marks the complete restoration of all pre-pandemic in-person activities for the 241 Jehovah’s Witnesses in the 4 congregations in the British Virgin Islands. Houses of worship (called Kingdom Halls) were reopened on April 1, witnessing in public places resumed on May 31 and in-person conventions are again being planned for 2023.”

Lydia Turnbull ready!

One local Jehovah’s Witness Ms Lydia Turnbull from Road Town, Tortola remarked, "I miss seeing the expressions on the householders' faces while talking to them in the ministry."

Mrs Turnbull will heading out to the neighborhood in the coming weeks and said she is happy and looking forward to returning to the house-to-house ministry.

Saving lives!

The JW organization added that the suspension of the public ministry was a proactive response by the organisation to keep communities and congregants safe. The move was also unprecedented.

“Jehovah’s Witnesses had been preaching from house to house without interruption for more than 100 years through an economic depression, two world wars and global unrest, but COVID- 19 demanded a different response.”

“We believe that the early decision to shut down all in-person activities for more than two years has saved many lives,” said Robert Hendriks, spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Mr Hendricks added that Jehovah's Witnesses are ready and eager to reconnect with their neighbors via person-to-person and face-to-face interactions.

“It’s not the only way that we preach, but it has historically been the most effective way to deliver our message of comfort and hope.”

The return to an in-person ministry coincides with a global campaign to offer an interactive Bible study programme, available in hundreds of languages and offered at no cost. The course comes in the form of a printed book, online publication or as an embedded feature within the organisation’s free mobile application, JW Library.

This is awesome news. I may not agree with all of their teachings, but I certainly believe in God's Work morning forward. It certainly keeps the knowledge of God alive in the community. It is up to us to develop our relationship with God and allow the Holy Spirit to lead our lives.

the jw are successful because they have no competition, basically. Other religious groups are not as aggressive in promoting their beliefs. The jws have a different twist on the bible, their own version and int
erpretation. They segregate from other denominations.. Their strategy is to ask people questions about God and biblical doctrines and if you don't know the Bible, they will be happy to teach you their beliefs. Don't be hostile to them. Just gently let them know you are not interested in cults. You need to study the Word of God from the orthodox king james translations if you really want to understand what was translated from the Greek, Hebrews and Latin transcripts or scrolls. Din't be afraid to challenge the arguments of the JWs. Some of their teachings resembles apostacy. But God loves everybody. Pray for them.

The jw has destroyed more lives world wide with their false teaching than all the deaths covid, world war one and two, the Spanish flu combine. Now they are at it again, may God help us. If it was indeed a sincere bible believing sect then I would welcome them with open arms.

Two ladies from the largest church in caricom died recently because they could not get anyone in their 3000 member congregation to give them a pint of blood. Why because they were all vaccinated.

Yet Jesus who you preach shed his blood on calvary and you would not give a spoonful of blood to save a life. If Jesus come back to earth and ask you all false sects to give Him a teaspoon of blood you would kill Him for a second time. What are you knocking my door for. Stay far away from me.

I work in a hospital so I want to respond to this comment. I get it that you don’t like the Jehova religion stand on blood but it’s their right to refuse a medical treatment. Why refer to isolated cases to make a general statement? What about the millions of persons who receive blood daily but still die? Studies from reputable hospitals like John Hopkins reveal that transfused blood also has a suppressive effect on the immune system, which increases the risk of infections, including pneumonia and sepsis. Do some research. Often times death is the result of Murillo other complications. In my opinion, whether a person take blood or not, if it’s their time to die they will die.

My sign at the gate said NO Jahova witness, and they still stood out there calling "INSIDE". What about our riights not to be harassed? Can I take them to court for an order of protection or can I loose my dogs in my yard to bark bark bark at them? NO MEANS NO!!!

If people wanted to go to any church, they know where they are. They should not be allowed every weekend to bother citizens who dread hearing them at our doors. The government is supporting this blatant harassment which is against the law. With tempers already against them, fights could break out. This has always been a ticking time bomb. How many times do they need to be told they are not welcome?

Why people always jumping on them about this blood issue?

When I was sick a few years ago, I asked a Jehovah witness work colleague about some of the medical alternatives to blood transfusion that their religion use, because I did not want blood transfusion either and I am not a member of the religion. They gave me a video and I’ve learned a lot about different alternative. Ask for a copy of the video. Even John Hopkins university study says that blood transfusions are still overused and can do more harm than good in some patients.

First of all, I still practice wearing my mask, distancing, and hand washing. I have been safe for these 2 1/2 years from COVID. I am NOT about to allow these people into my yard to now infect me with their self-centered nonsense. I LOVE my privacy and I am not going to be nice trying to explain it to self-righteous phony bolognese. Why do they have the idea that they are welcome everywhere? Narcissistic people always think they are right. Religion is what has kept us in slavery for years and people don't want to open their eyes to the facts. Well here's a fact: I WAS NOT BORN TO BE FORCE FED BY ANYONE. I AM A ADULT AND I MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS, SO KEEP OUT OF MY YARD. My sign says, NO TRESPASSING OR SOLICITORS. What? JW's, you cannot read? DO NOT PUSH OPEN MY GATE or I will video tape you, call the police, and take you to court. I will be the first to do so, that is how sick and tired I am of all of you. Let the games begin!

I bet that many of the comments I’m reading here are from “Christian” people who go to church every Saturday/ Sunday and profess to love God and neighbour. If you could be making such hateful against another religious group just because their beliefs are different from yours, it is no wonder that I want no part of organised religion. If we respect each other regardless of creed or race the world would be a better place

@ Religious fanatics. No one is disputing different religious beliefs. We are saying we don't want them bothering us every weekend. They are the ones not respecting our right to privacy, can you agree with that? They are harassing people all over and you tell us we are wrong. Well let me enlighten you, THEY ARE WRONG FOR INVADING OUR PEACE AND COMFORT! Do you understand now? If you don't understand that, then you are also part of the problem. I am NOT going to be nice anymore.

Them not listening to the commentators, but choosing to invade people's privacy and peace, are going to meet someone who might hurt them. Your admiration of them speaks volumes about your mentality and no respect for your community.

The problem with j witness is when you listen and get intellectually engaged as a person of the books they become lost “stick to the track!” Mentality.

They are trained to preach but the Christian ministry they can not handle as it involves thinking for yourself about the god from whom we did gain knowledge of right & wrong not simply blind belief to prewritten texts.

If everyone stopped and listened to their heart we would throw out old rules and come to understand Jesus more specifically what he wanted us to learn. What he wanted us to learn when he worked & healed on the sabbath.

Love each other forgive each other live for each other! There is no greater love.... That’s it.

JW is too fanatical about its rules it’s basically a cult everyone wants to be one of the chosen few.

Cmon what is really preaching is intolerance & conditional love. Be perfect or else.

Divine love is unconditional. Stop spinning god loves us all. The kingdom of heaven is within man yet many move through life preaching hell & focusing on hell. Oh no a birthday gift. Oh no a blood transfusion. Have some faith.

God won’t stop loving you if you eat a pork rib while thinking it’s beef.

There are many who believe in other things and not Christianity. There are Atheists, Agnostics, Buddhists, Freethinkers, Humanists, Non-religious, Rationalists, Skeptics, Secularists, and the list goes on. Jahova Witnesses will NOT sit down or visit our temples, so I have no interest in listening to their closed minds. DONE.
