ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Owner of James Todman Construction, James Todman, announced at his company’s 25th Anniversary Dinner that the company will soon be able to provide home ownership services to residents of the Virgin Islands. The company that has been in operation since 1987 had their 25th Anniversary Celebratory Dinner on April 28, 2012, at Treasure Isle, Road Town.

James Todman Construction, one of the largest construction companies in the VI, also handed over a hefty cheque of $25,000 to the Government of the Virgin Islands to assist in purchasing an ambulance for Peebles Hospital.

While delivering his speech, Mr. Todman stated that there are many individuals in the VI who can pay the loan to build a home but their main problem is the start. “James Todman Construction is working through the legal areas in order to help our people to own a home.”

He expressed that there is a need to find some way and somehow to provide help to VI residents.

In borrowing a quote from Hon. Mark Vanterpool he said, “You need a smaller man to reach where they ought to be.”

He stated that this deal is not a ‘hand shake’ deal and added that his company is working towards getting the legal part straightened out in order to move forward.

“James Todman Construction stands behind commitment, commitment is not a feeling or emotion, we stand behind whatever we agree to do. Our mission and vision is to be the leading construction company in the British Virgin Islands,” said Mr. Todman.

Mr. Todman stated that he believes in the B.E.S.T, B for believing in your workmen, E for encouraging you workers, S for sharing with your workers and T for trusting your workers.

The Virgin Islander businessman said he did not reach where he is over night, and added that while talking to young Virgin Islanders, he tells them that if they are interested in learning a trade, never make money the object. “If you put money as the object, you will never accomplish what you want, the money will come but you have to put your trade first.”

He quoted Jimmy Cliff to properly describe his life, “You have to use what you got, to get what you need.”

“People today don’t realise and don’t understand that you have to go through a lot of things to accomplish what you want in life, it doesn’t come over night.”

He stated that in anything one does, they need encouragement and thanked those who encouraged him through the years.

James Todman Construction provides: engineering consultants, project management, quantity surveying, development consultants, trucking services and also rent construction equipment. Their office is located in Lower Estate in Road Town, Tortola.
