Jamaica & US at odds over accreditation of US Diplomat’s same sex spouse
A report from Caribbean News Weekly (CNW) suggests that the decision could have far-reaching consequences for diplomatic relations between the two nations after the United States government earlier in the year formally requested approval from the Jamaican government to extend diplomatic immunity and privileges to the married partner of a diplomat set to be posted in Jamaica.
Same-sex marriage not recognised in Jamaica
“Notably, the diplomat and their partner are in a same-sex relationship, an aspect that has added complexity to the situation since same-sex marriage is not recognised in Jamaica. Sources indicate that the Jamaican government failed to respond promptly to the initial request made by the United States,” the report detailed
Following frustration and at the lack of a timely response, the report said American officials reportedly sent another diplomatic note urging a swift reply and it was then that the Jamaican government eventually rejected the United States’ request.
“According to a senior government source who spoke to Radio Jamaica News, granting approval to the request would require Jamaica to acknowledge same-sex marriages, an act that remains illegal within the country’s legal framework. This refusal by the Jamaican government has triggered a series of retaliatory measures from the United States,” the report cited.
It added that reliable sources reveal that the United States, in response, rejected a separate request from Jamaica to extend the stay of three diplomats stationed at the Jamaican embassy and consulates within the United States, a request that is usually granted as a routine matter.
Jamaican diplomats already reportedly affected
Among those directly impacted by the decision are Audrey Marks, Jamaica’s ambassador to the United States, and Oliver Mair, the Consul General based in Miami with both officials instructed by American authorities to return to Jamaica within the current year the report detailed.
“At present, it remains uncertain what further diplomatic measures, if any, the United States government might take against Jamaica as a consequence of the denial of diplomatic immunity to the spouse of one of its diplomats.”
Caribbean National Weekly said the disagreement has the potential to strain relations between the two nations, raising concerns about the future of their diplomatic partnership.

America just love to dictate to the world.
Why don't they respect other countries culture and religion.
The Lord soon wake them up.
Just watch and you will see.
This is their liberal teachings. This is their democrat nastiness !!!!
Yet again the USA is to blame for the proliferation of weapons in the Caribbean which they will never admit to while protecting their gun manufacturers from legal actions.
They should be the ones sanctioned until they get their gun manufacturers under control.
They should be set up like they did Fahie... Im sure they would say they never did it before which would be a lie. Even Mexico is tired of their weapons. They send their undercover informants pretending to be criminals without a record to flood the Caribbean & South America with weapons.
With all their capabilities its obviously a deliberate & decades long mission to destabilize the region according to their Monroe doctrine.
We are steady fighting their war on drugs against our own people, meanwhile they continue selling guns to the criminals they create. They want chaos.
Look around its no conspiracy where did South America & African countries get so many guns and end up is such a mess??!! Who trained those terrorist in the middle east? Who armed & supported rebels in libya?
OK. Wise up knowledge is power. The US decision makers who are not voted on are global criminals with the superiority complex of the UK with more insanity.
Slavery was no accident either, do not forget the USA fought civil a war over keeping it in place. Do not forget desegregation ended about what 1970. Our recent ancestors could not speak up yet many who now have the right stay silent.
You will see all kinds of things happen the LGBTQ+ agenda if our own referendum does not go their way, suddenly things will start going haywire and we will think its coincidence. If not for being the British Virgin Islands, we can bet they would be attempting to install a whole government and laugh about it years later on the international news.
Soon we will hear that implementing LGBTQ+ is for the children. They have no conscience and want to manipulate everything outside of their borders. Wise up.
