It was all about the Potgieters @ Race 2 of College Classic!
In the 1-mile race, Charlie Potgieter got the better of Race 1 winner Othniel Gillings in a time of 6:54 minutes. With a bullet each it will be a fight to the finale.
Chelsea Edwards bought home the girls in 9:04 minutes.
Charlie’s mom, Jules Potgieter, then bought the ladies home in the 2-mile race in 13.49. Lia Claxton and Rosmond Johnson were second and third respectively.
In a sweep, the Potgieter family took home their 3rd gold with Sam Potgieter winning the Secondary School division.
Meanwhile, in the senior 2-mile race, Neil Riley led from the blocks to the tape taking a few seconds of his time towards the course record.
Jelani Croal and JJ Ricketts had a close battle; however, Croal used his finishing speed to grab second place.
Finding his form in the service clubs, Reuben J. A. Stoby, fourth overall, set a new record in this division with a time of 12:11.56.
Despite a 6.00am downfall, over 150 runners took to the HLSCC College Classic course in slightly cooler temperatures but damp underfoot.
The next race of the series on Tortola is Saturday, October 12, 2019.
This Saturday, October 5, 2019, runners in Virgin Gorda will hopefully finally get the series underway after the first race was cancelled due to a tropical storm.
