It stinks in Carrot Bay!
According to information received by this news site, recently garbage allegedly left rotting was only removed after lots of complaints to the relevant authorities. “They not doing a good job, they keep skipping certain areas and the place stinking, it harbouring rodents, rats and so and it’s a health risk,” alleged one resident of the area.
The residents are of the opinion that it was a matter of victimisation levied at the hands of the National Democratic Party (NDP) authorities since the contractor who had been doing the job of garbage collection in that area allegedly hadn’t his contract renewed.
“They aint renewed the contract and those guys know this area to a T and they were doing it for a year, all of a sudden we hear that the contract not renewed and now a fresh set of people who aint know this place that well get the contract. It was nothing but political victimisation, that’s what it is,” alleged one resident of the community.
But another had a totally different story to tell when contacted by this news site. According to the resident, he feels that for some reason or the other the community is generating more garbage than before. He claims that he has personally been keeping an eye on the new set of garbage collectors and in his view they have been doing a good job and not guilty of skipping any area.
He said that because of the increased amount of garbage collected and the schedule of collecting it may appear that some areas are being overlooked. “You collect garbage at a certain time by time the next morning the same garbage bins overflowing. Those guys are doing a good job as far as I see.”
One resident disputed the claim that garbage was left in some areas for two days, “That’s totally not true, maybe overnight but not for two days, no that is not so, totally not true,” said the resident.
Manager of the Department of Waste Management, Greg Massicote, could not be reached for comment.
Representative for the First District Honourable Andrew A. Fahie also could not be reached up to press time on this matter.

You are correct but the guys was willing to renegotiate the price but Gov refused to even meet with them. D man uses the tender process for what he wants. He spend over a million dollars up Spooner without the tender process. The long & short is he thinks only he should have.
The guy who won the tender did not have the best bid & he wasn't the one recommended by the tender boardbut what R**** wants he gets no matter the rules. Btw another person from District one is who was recommended. Time will deal with R**** them so.
I had enough of Mr. Know it All Minister. He cut the first district seniors ride to the clinic Capoon's Bay. Then he hide behind the tender process to cut the contract for the guy from the First District. He caused us this over priced hospital. The sooner we get he & his gang out of politics the better for this country.
