BEEF ISLAND, VI - First responders rushed into position shortly after 4pm today October 22, 2015 as an Island Bird aircraft reportedly sounded the alarm that it was having technical problems likely to pose landing challenges at the Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island.
The details are sketchy but it's this news site's information that the Island Bird 45 SR aircraft was experiencing problems getting one of its landing gears down and was forced to remain in the air for some time as the BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) fire fighters positioned themselves for an emergency landing.
Fortunately, however, the plane made a safe landing as the pilot eventually succeeded in getting the landing gear down.
Efforts to reach both Island Bird and BVIAA representatives for comments were futile.
