Internet troll calls for Deputy Premier to be ‘lynched’
“Mr Speaker, one lady of European descent made a public post on Facebook and said I should be lynched, I am paraphrasing, at the Sunday Morning Well,” Dr Wheatley said during the 12th Sitting of the 3rd Session of the 4th House of Assembly on November 4, 2021.
Where is the outrage?
The post was reportedly made by an individual who has relentlessly trolled the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Government members, particularly Premier and Minister of Finance Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and Dr Wheatley, on social media.
“I don’t see the outrage, because who am I? A little black boy from Fat Hogs Bay. Those things don’t outrage us,” said Dr Wheatley, who was debating a motion in the House of Assembly for the formation of a Special Committee to consider all the facts available and then consider three possible recommendations in relation to whether the House of Assembly should stand the legal cost incurred by the Speaker in a withdrawn case against three United Kingdom lawyers working for the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) while not being called to the Virgin Islands Bar.
Beware of the ‘divide & rule tactic’- Dr Wheatley
A handful of persons led by Rosemary Cindy Rosan-Jones have totally overlooked the fact that the lawyers may have violated the territory’s laws and have instead demanded via protests that the Speaker pay the fee out of his pocket.
According to Dr Wheatley, his spirit had sunk a bit over the last couple of days but he is finding the strength and courage to continue the fight for a better Virgin Islands.
And part of the fight for a better Virgin Islands, he said, has to do with enlightening the Virgin Islands people.
“Open our eyes and see clearly what is taking place here in the Virgin Islands.
Let us now allow the age-old tactic of divide and rule to destroy the Virgin Islands and allow them to take it from us yet again.”
Dr Wheatley called on the VI people to draw on the spirit of their ancestors, their example, their courage, and fight for a better Virgin Islands.

AND a whole lot of people would have overlooked the fact that many of our elected officials and the appointed Speaker had violated the territory's laws (that they themselves made), if it were not for the said lawyers bringing this to the people's attention. Now we know !!!!
But of course, no one will be charged or prosecuted.
Wendy's statement went over and beyond that right in publically calling for the death of a government official. In what world is that acceptable?
And before you attempt to debate me on this subject and further and to the brewing pot of ignorance please go get a dictionary and find the deffinition of the word"lynch" & "strung up"and understand the end result of both of these words are death. And that is not ok.
Lol it’s not an internet troll it’s that stupid w**** woman W**dy that keep begging government to fix her house. How stupid can you be to keep verbally abusing government but still asking for assistance. She need to go back where she come from asap.
String up- (phrasal verb)
:to hang(someone) by the neck: to kill (someone) by hanging
Eg. They threatened to string him up on a wall.
Word definition
Lynch-(transitive verb)
: to put to death(as by hanging) by mob action without legal approval or permission
Eg. The accused was lynched by an angry mob.
Im just amased by how many people are making excuses for Wendy's ignorance
historical useage related to punishment for criminal activity by hanging by the neck, however current useage has evolved the term to indicate extreme anger or outrage.
Historical useage = Lets string (d)em up to the nearest tree.
Current useage = I'm so angry with those guys I'd like to string (d)em up (by their balls)!
Everything doesn't have to be about race. JS
1. Racial references appeared in the article and throughout the thread.
2. Hanging was widely practiced, and was not in the exclusive domain of slavery or racial oppression. Here's a newspaper excerpt from 1972: ROADTOWN, British Virgin Islands, June 28 (AP)—A 23‐ year‐old convicted murderer was hanged today.
3. There was never any joking involved. My point was the phrase is an idiomatic expression and has taken on a different meaning over time. I guess melanin is the litmus test for intention.
4. Nothing I said can be construed as condoning or excusing actual threats or acts of violence against persons of any persuasion. But for someone who has time on their hands and looking for something to be outraged about, I guess the linguistic examination of the 'outlandish statement' fits the bill.
Over and out.
Maybe you should go walk the plank : ). Do the schools need to be fixed yes, do public facilities need to be fixed yes. Does the aleged missuse of public funds need to be addressed yes. So now that we have covered what needs to be addressed by government lets talk about what we as a people need to take personal responsiblity for.
1) We need to stop turning this territory into a garbage bin by dumping garbage illegally whenever we please and expecting government to fix the proble that we cotinuously create for ourselves.
2)We need to stop vandalising public facilities so that government will stop taking our tax money to keep fixing problems that we create
3) Parents that know they have bad @#$ kids train your children so that when they go to school they arent ripping dispensers off walls, breaking sinks, doors, windows,punching/ripping holes through dry wall, sticking toilet paper on the celing, shitting on the floors ect.(all things that have happned in the public school system within this year alone you think its money alone teachers want yall bad @#$ kids driving them up the wall to)
Any how we need to work together for this place to turn around i grow tired of the one sided arguments.lets just make up our minds that we are going to fix the problems this territory has together and actually do it.
Mommy, Mommy! someone call me a name!
Grow a pair and carry on!
