ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The 2-day Inter-Primary Schools Track and Field Championships kicked off this morning, April 3, 2024, with the march past of schools at A. O. Shirley Ground in Road Town.
Some 20 schools, including private schools, are taking part in the championships, which are being held today and Friday, April 5, 2024.
Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports Hon Sharie B. DeCastro (AL) took the salute at the march past of schools and also gave brief words of encouragement.
A moment of silence was given in memory of Dauria Alexander who passed away by drowning at Savannah Bay in Virgin Gorda on March 31, 2024. Alexander was a student of Enis Adams Primary and would have been participating in the Inter Primary Schools Track and Field Championships.
A moment of silence was also given in memory of the son of athletics coach and Physical Education teacher Ericca Frederick. Keon Frederick, who was injured in an accident at Pasea Estate while riding a motor scooter on February 27, 2024, succumbed to his injuries nearly two weeks later.
