ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Following a letter to the Governor where Chief Inspector attached to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) and the current Chairman of the Police Welfare Association (PWA) Mr Dean S. Robin had distanced himself from a petition for the removal of Commissioner of Police (CoP) Mr Mark Collins, the Police Welfare Secretary Sergeant Sean A. McCall has fired back.

“It is an indisputable fact that Chief Inspector Dean Robin is a signatory to the petition and expressed his support for the removal of the Commissioner and an independent investigation into several issues. The deliberate suppression of the facts from your knowledge is a travesty and a dishonor to the position and rank that he now holds,” Mr McCall said in a December 18, 2023, letter to the Governor seen by our newsroom.

The Sergeant added that it only confirms the statement laid out in the petition that the “force has a chronic infestation of his double standards, favoritism, nepotism, and cronyism that is almost irrepressible”.

In a letter on December 13, 2023, addressed to Governor John J. Rankin, Mr Robin has essentially distanced himself from the petition and its 55 allegations for the removal of the Commissioner of Police, despite reportedly signing it.

Sergeant McCall in his letter said the 'deceitfulness and the lack of principle' have now brought the credibility and integrity of the Chief Inspector into question and have brought the noble institution of the PWA into disrepute.

“It was brought to my attention, and I verily believe it to be true that since the petition was delivered to the office of the Governor, the Commissioner of Police Mark Collins contacted the Chairman of the PWA and as a result, influenced the pen of the Chairman who wrote to you and discredited the office of the Chairman of the PWA,” he further alleged in a 10-page rebuttal.

Heated police internal politics?

Since the launch of the petition, Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) reached out to the Top Cop for comments however, no response was ever provided.

Mr McCall added, “The essence of the petition is the double standards, and lack of transparency which the Chairman said was unfounded but conceded in his conclusion that there is a need for greater transparency for certain processes. This again is evidenced when the petition stated... ‘force has a chronic infestation of his double standards, favoritism, nepotism, and cronyism that is almost irrepressible’.”

The letter further said, “Chief Inspector Robin a senior police officer signed the petition. It is rather troubling, disingenuous, and unethical that he is now claiming that the petition that he read, signed, and verbally supported but since his communication with the Commissioner has a myriad of unfounded allegations. The Chief Inspector has discredited himself and disgraced the institution of the PWA and cannot be well placed to comment on ethics and leadership truthfully and objectively.”

Efforts to reach Mr Robin for comment were unsuccessful.

Our news centre will bring more details as they become available.

What do you expect. He is one of the Commissioner’s minions. Lots of them who are suck ups to gain favor. Pitiful. It is sad that young Virgin Islanders are not stepping up to make policing a career.

So he signed it without reading or what? Sounds like he’s either a moron or he was given something or threatened to change his tune.

If the interdicted secretary wants to call out anybody he has to come in with clean hands. No wonder all these documents on the road the man got more leaks than Water and Sewerage. "Police Welfare Association Chairman Sean A. McCall released without charges & accused of leaking information to press"

You can blame who you want, say what you want, the question is what did you guys leak to the Commissioner to get your acting positions? Surely you guys cannot pass an exam to be promoted so you continue to leak things to the COP and management to maintain acting positions. Truth be told because you guys want promotions wrong has become right and right has become wrong. There is one rule of law, and it goes for everyone. If his hands are clean, why are they so afraid of an investigation?

The secretary is on suspension but we nominated him because of his genuine love and passion for the welfare of officers. He has been there for us. He is the one saving us from the wrath of the Mongoose Gang. He is working remotely just like the deputy in South America, running an investigation into the petition and intimidating the young officers telling them she got them on the job. Petition needed. Working remotely

No one and I mean no one in any reputable Organization who is suspended on allegations of misconduct boarding a crime is allowed to continue to conduct business for that Organization until he/she is acquitted of all charges. It is quite obvious why this has happened within the Force

Look drama!! Police are fighting each other ,collecting a pay cheque every 2 weeks and the community is suffering. No investigation skills, cases are dismissing left, right and center because of lack proper investigation and prosecution. Criminals are walking free from the court house. The social media war needs to stop or be stopped. Where are their integrity and professionalism ? The public need to take a mental note of this chief inspector who candidly signed a document and later claimed he didn't read it . How many documents he had signed for his 30 years of policing and never read them. It is a pity. Big for nothing, o lord have mercy upon us and protect us from ........

The Secretary should remember the years when he was a pet to many Police Commissioners carrying news all over the place. Oh how the tides have now turned!. As one blogger stated, the drama, infighting and lawsuits coming from within the Police Force are caused by Officers who are not from the Territory and whose only aim is personal gain. When will this chaos cease and the interest and security of the public take center stage in these critical times?

Vere Browne is a former Commissioner of Police so is Reynela Frazer. They can be appointed to conduct an investigation just give them the resources like the COI investigators

Cop tell the peoples about your un shift system implementation thst caused all the outstations to be closed, and it became a topic of discussion in the meeting where the officer was told his implementation will bloody work and it will not be bloody changed, then as a result of shots fired at prison officers, who seeked refuge at the ENPS but there were no police there, the shift system reverted back to normal. Cop is a danger to the bvi society.

Not understanding why the VI,a UK territory us so deep in a slimy relationship with a police force from neighboring Independent lands known as the lowest of scoundrels in the Northern Hemisphere, why can't it be a police force of VI and UK.. The depth that t h e VI has sunk and continues to sink is disheartening and predictable end zero.,,A major immigrant population of nothings accompanied by their respective low on the human chart officers and a local prison population of said immigrants and their random spawns supported in style by tax payer dollars while civil servants earn poverty wages.
