CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI- A national of India who was refused entry into the Virgin Islands via Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport last week was subsequently arrested for illegal entry in the US Virgin Islands.

Druv Sharma was arrested at Cyril E. King Airport on St Thomas, US Virgin Islands on Friday, April 4, 2025, after Customs and Border Protection officers determined he had no legal status to be in the country.

Sharma reportedly successfully made a flight via Cape Air to Beef Island in the VI but was denied entry into the territory due to the apparent lack of sufficient documentation to be admitted.

Upon his return to the USVI, he was taken to the secondary inspection area for a check of his legal status in the United States.

Illegal Entry

Mr Sharma reportedly told CBP officers that he is a citizen and national of India. He left on October 20, 2024, first traveling to Amsterdam, and then St Martin. He said he left St Martin for Dominica, and then came by boat to St John in January 2025.

According to Mr Sharma, he was robbed of between four and five hundred dollars as payment for the boat journey.

An inspection of his passport found the last stamp to be one from Dominica, showing his entry on November 24, 2024. Absent evidence of any legal documentation to be in the United States, Mr Sharma was also charged with illegal entry.

According to the report ..."He said he left St Martin for Dominica, and then came by boat to St John in January 2025." He did not enter St. John via BVI.

It says he went by boat to St. John from Dominica, then flew on Cape Air from STT to EIS. Since he was ineligible for entry, Cape Air would have had to fly him back from whence he came, STT. There they determined he was illegal. That leads to the obvious conclusion his original entry to St. John was irregular. So was he robbed, or did he pay a coyote?

Not condoning what the Indian did, but whoever is robbing persons in that manner will not reap anything good. What goes around comes around.
