Increase in COVID-19 cases observed- BVIHSA
BVIHSA said in a press release today, September 1, 2023, that it believes this increase in positive cases serves as a reminder that the COVID-19 virus persists, necessitating ongoing caution and proactive measures to ensure health and safety.
As the Omicron variant and other strains of the virus continue to circulate, the BVIHSA urges persons to remain vigilant and prioritize the health and well-being of both themselves and others.
BVIHSA also advised that it is important that individuals follow recommended guidelines to reduce the risk of infection and subsequent transmission.
Visitors to hospital must wear masks
Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr June M. Samuel expressed BVIHSA’s ongoing commitment to protecting the Community, she stated, "We must remain steadfast in our commitment to battling this virus and safeguarding the wellbeing of residents by adhering to recommended safety measures and staying informed. As it relates to the COVID-19 virus, we have already proven that we can overcome such challenges when we all work together."
In line with this new development the Infection Prevention and Control Manager at the BVIHSA – Ms Rosa Ravariere-Seaman, wishes to inform the public that with the increase in cases, the wearing of masks on hospital units is mandatory when visiting loved ones. She explains that; “this requirement helps to protect our patients, families, and healthcare workers.”
She emphasised that “masks must cover the nose and mouth at all times, as this is an essential step in preventing the spread of infections.”
