‘I’m unemployed with three kids’- man found with drugs tells court
Eversely Barker changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on two of the four charges brought against him at the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.
He pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and possession of cannabis before Magistrate Christilyn Benjamin.
Barker then entered not guilty pleas to possession with intent to supply on both charges.
He was caught with 25.6 grams of cocaine and 13.6 grams of cannabis at Sage Mountain on August 3, 2018.
Barker also had the sum of $126 on his person during his run-in with the law, but no forfeiture was done with respect to it, and the funds would be returned to him.
The Prosecutor also withdrew the charges that he pleaded not guilty to and offered no evidence against him before the court.
It’s rough
When asked if he wanted to say anything that the court should consider during its sentencing, Barker said, “This is a real rough time of the year right now. At the present moment, I am unemployed with three kids.”
He added that he just started a maintenance and landscaping business, but it is yet to take off.
The matter was then adjourned to December 9, 2019 for sentencing.
