EAST END, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has said while he is not into mudslinging, he will surely respond to untruths spoken about himself or the Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

The Premier and VIP Chairman was at the time speaking at the VIP’s official campaign launch to endorse former Financial Secretary in the Virgin Islands, Mr L. Allen Wheatley in the Eighth District on March 23, 2023.

Unanswered lies become truth- Premier

“I want everyone out there to understand that in politics, you have to answer, because if you don’t answer, some of the lies which are told become the truth. They say don’t get into ‘tit for tat’. If you say anything about me or my Party that’s not true, I’m just letting you know I am going to respond,” Dr Wheatley noted.

He added that it is not only about this but pointed out that people are correct when they say that you should say what you are going to do and what you have done.

Premier Wheatley had called for a clean political campaign; however, all parties have since been hitting each other for political points.

100 significant VIP  accomplishments list

Meanwhile, Dr Wheatley indicated the VIP will soon be releasing an accomplishment list alongside its manifesto.

“I am about to loose one hundred significant accomplishments that the VIP had during this four-year term. I’m not gonna do it right now but we are about to loose one hundred significant VIP accomplishments.

"So we will defend our record and we will soon be releasing our manifesto and we’re gonna tell you what we’re gonna be doing for the next four years,” the Premier stated.

Is the Governor trying to influence the outcome of the elections by working with some key persons in NDP 1 & NDP 2? More and more people are asking how come the COI, the Governor, the Auditor General and the UK Head of Police in the BVI are ignoring all the questionable conduct of Fraser and the NDP. No mention of the eight-million-dollar plane heist. No mention of the rich eighty folks that got Belongers under the NDP in 2019 fast track programme that did not qualify while the common man who lived in the BVI for years was ignored. No mention of the Sea Cow's Bay harbor project and all the money to their brother and themselves. No mention of the overpriced pier project of one hundred million dollars. No mention of the overpriced eighty-million-dollar new hospital building. No mention of the Georgie Hill Road project that started in the thousands and ended up in the millions with many people land taken and not compensated to date. The list is endless. Something is not right here. Is it they are all working together to try to influence the elections against the VIP to get VIP out of office so they can take over and sell us out for their freedom? SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT!!!

We keep having selective memory. NDP 1 and 2 think their ability to get the governor’s ear is in the best interest of the people. Some are political prostitutes who are willing to be used by powerful predators. They will all go in and do the bidding of who pulls their strings then make excuses at the end of four years forgetting how ridiculously they had criticized others. It is all classism and egoism driving them to think that they will be ‘better than’ instead of ‘how can I best work with’ our leaders to better the issues we face as a country. What are their guiding values? Who benefits from them having power? How good are they with money management? How do they manage their personal affairs?

The country went through the roughest four years of its existence. The VIP had to deal with Irma damages that were not fixed by NDP and had to deal with covid which was the worse pandemic in the last 100yrs, and they did well. They were not perfect, but they did well especially when you compare them to other governments including the UK. Remember the UK told the BVI they are not giving us any grants or funds to help with covid and they further said use our own funds to help ourselves as they have to use what they have to help their UK residents in the UK. The health people in the BVI said if the government do not act swiftly the BVI would have between 3500 to 5000 people with covid and will die and the numbers will continue to increase. The VIP Government was criticized by Fraser and the NDP 1 & NDP 2 for closing down the cruise industry & then the entire country only to see two weeks later the entire world followed the BVI and shut down to try to save lives. If this was not done most of us would not be alive now. As a people we need to remember these facts and give VIP a second term rather than listening to those who sold us out to get power from those who refused to help us but now trying to make us look bad through COI & other actions to save themselves and their face. VIP deserves a second term.

Indeed, the Premier is employing good political strategy but not letting himself nor the VIP be swiftboated by false, deliberately targeted and malicious misinformation, disinformation and malinformation. Such information sitting out their un-responded to will become the truth to some people, and cause political harm, attaining their intended purpose. They have to be responded to quickly with verifiable facts. Former US presidential candidate (2004) John Kerry was likely a victim of swiftboating, for he was slow responding to misinformation. That said one has to be selective in such responses. The opposition will to overwhelm their opponents with a barrage of personal attacks to get you off the your game focusing on where they want you to instead of on substantive issues. The government will probably do the sane to challengers. It is a game and one must know the rules of the game to win.

With the unexpected covid during this 4yrs please be for real and note that no government could have stuck to their manifesto because it was about saving lives and livelihood as well as saving the economy from tanking out. This was for real although some want us to forget that covid happened.

We are allowing ourselves to be fooled once more because of hand outs we were given at times when the government placed us in a position where we couldn’t help ourselves. While they gave out grants and stimulus packages to buy your votes. They were busy constructing bills to line their pockets whether they got back in office or did not.
Sharie has done little to nothing during her term especially at the beginning since she was busy throwing a tantrum because she was not given minister of education and even as the minister she has done nothing but repeat the phrase full steam ahead or give more to get back change.
We won’t even waste much time to talk about Sheep, Carvin ,or Shereen.
The VIP as a whole are mute about their ex leader Andrew. Who called for a COI over and over for the NDP but ended up getting his wish while he was premier. Which showed us the dirty hands of him and many in his government. The VIP squandered 60million dollars in just four years with little to no territorial improvements other than those that were already in the making before they were elected however, they are trying to take credit for it. Don’t forget that during this VIP term 10million dollars in grants were given by the Premier’s office while our local schools lack basic necessities. My people loyalty should never equal stupidity!

Your party has said time and time again that you have not served your full term. What does social security say to someone of pension age who has not served their full time? THEY DO NOT QUALIFY FOR SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS ON RETIREMENT. So, showandey, I say likewise to you and your VIP government, YOU DO NOT QUALIFY to receive the pension benefits associated with the VIPs greedy bill. You and your entire party has admitted to it. Since you have not served your full term, SAY THAT YOU AND YOUR PARTY WILL NOT TRY TO CLAIM ANY OF THE BENEFITS BECAUSE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU DO NOT QUALIFY. GREEDY GREEDY GREEDY.

Hon. Natalio Sawande Wheatley, current Premier, BVI, no amount of so-called mudslinging I good politics. But when you said that lies told against you will become truth without response, what kind of stupid talk is that? A like cannot change to truth nor can a lie or lies becomes truth whether you respond or not. Can't fool many and me with that lie, liar.

@ To Showandey. In order to qualify for Social Security pension, he or she MUST make a minimum of five hundred contribution on attaining the age of sixty- five years. Conversely if a person makes less than five hundred contributions at age sixty-five years, he or she will receive a Social Security grant which is a one-time payment So it is important for everyone who is employed in the Territory to ensure that their Social Security is paid to the Board.

All those who believed that this man is soft. I think by now you realize that soft spoken and quiet people are giants. Don't judge the books by it's cover just turn the pages and read. In reading sometimes we misunderstand and the interpretation don't connect. So it is right now he is not a soft man or an easy walk over. Say what you want but I see a giant. No one is perfect but he is striving for perfection.

Hardship brings about the best in us and certainly this territory have gone and still is going through a rough time we are not out of the woods yet. The man is trying to bring us out. why not allow him to do so? I say to this territory open your eyes, heart, mind, Soul and apply wisdom and understanding. All that glitters is not gold he has already given us much to chew on as it pertains to the territory as to making changes to issues affecting us. Admitted to mistakes and wants to make changes to some serious issues affecting us. Yes we can say he had 4 years but truth be told it's not enough time to show his true potential in politics. I believe if given another 4 years we the people of this territory will be able to say differently.
