FREDERIKSTED, ST Croix, USVI- The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and other federal law enforcement entities, has launched immigration enforcement efforts in the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. These efforts are aligned with the President Donald J. Trump's Executive Order titled “Protecting the American People Against Invasion,” signed on January 20, 2025.

Governor Albert A. Bryan Jr on Sunday, January 26, 2025, informed the Consortium that ICE agents are monitoring ferry operations. Residents in the St Thomas-St John district have also reported sightings of enforcement activities.

ICE stressed on Sunday the importance of enforcing immigration laws to safeguard national security and public safety. The agency plays a vital role in identifying and detaining individuals who pose threats while coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to achieve the objectives outlined in the executive order.

The enforcement actions in the USVI and Puerto Rico align with widespread efforts across the mainland US, where thousands of arrests have been carried out following President Trump's executive order.

On Sunday, a diplomatic spat erupted between Mr Trump and Colombian President Gustavo Petro over immigration policies. Colombia initially refused to accept two US military aircraft carrying deported Colombian illegal immigrants, leading Trump to impose an immediate 25% tariff on all Colombian goods, with threats to increase it to 50%, alongside visa restrictions and enhanced border inspections. In response to these retaliatory measures, Colombia quickly reversed its stance, agreeing to use the presidential plane for the dignified return of its nationals.

No they not, do you think all the illegals is looking for a better life? You got the drug dealers, sex traffickers, gangs, the worst of the worse illegals was crossing the border into the United States. That is the reason Americans voted Trump back in because he is going to get the illegals out of America. Some of the illegals own Country people in America that is legal want them gone because they are making them look bad.

I would not want to be an illegal anywhere. A big immigration lawyer just resigned in the US after the FBI raided his office.

They are smuggling back over to Tortola now . We need the immigration department to put immigration officers outside the security clearance to check passports to see if persons who leaving came in legally or they didn’t over stayed here for years .

All the illegals is going to run to Tortola now that ICE is going to round them up in the USVI. You Santos can’t run to Puerto Rico to hide out because Puerto Rico is going to round them up to. It is what it is.

ICE needs to show up in the BVI. Saw somewhere in the news from the US, the illegals that work on the farms picking produce is not showing up for work out of fear that immigration is going to go to their jobs and make a raid.

    Two things:
    1) yes, some bad people fleeing ICE will try and hide here.
    2) some BVI people, who are illegally in PR or USVI (or USA mainland for that matter) will be deported back to BVI. Not all be be innocents.

Hopefully, this process will reveal the wide open door of these BVI that is the gatewy to USVI and the world.
A dangerous and willful doing of the elected crooks in Tortola
With luck we will be cordoned off and restricted. A danger to the rest of the World and with sympatheic immigrant Arabs/ Muslims a part of our Community, the threat is beyond real.
