‘I will not seek’ another term in office- Premier Smith
Premier Smith, one of the founding members of the NDP, this evening, June 18, 2018, announced on CNB 90.9 FM Radio, that he will be calling it quits when the party goes into the next general elections.
“The question I have asked myself is whether I should seek to continue to lead the party, and after much thought and prayer, after discussing the question with my colleagues and family I have concluded that I should not.”
Meanwhile, the NDP internal election is slated for June 23, 2018 and Premier Smith will not be seeking re-election as party president.
“And so when the NDP comes together in its upcoming convention I will not seek nor accept the nomination to lead the party into the next elections.”
Dr Smith, in the over 10-minute- broadcast aired from 8:30 P.M., said it is his expectation that the convention will see other candidates offer themselves up to lead and the assembled party members select a new leader.
“And while my journey as Premier and Leader of the Territory will come to a close at the end of this Government’s term in office, the mission that was launched so many years ago lives on.”
So far, two of Premier Smith’s own Cabinet colleagues, Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (AL) and Minister for Education and Culture Hon Myron V. Walwyn (AL), will challenge for the post of president in a June 23, 2018 NDP internal election.

I voted NDP last election but I will be giving extra attention to each vote next election.
We need to know who all became millionaires with that 40 million overrun on the Pier Park including the Jamaican who up and down smoking Cuban cigar and laughing at BVI people.
Too much thief with white collar crime and no man in jail!
TT Monster now turn Cookie Monster!
Don't try to get out while its warm. It's about to get hit.
Depending on the outcome of the elections on Saturday,I will decide whether I stick with the NDP God willing in the next election.
However, what is not clear is if the Premier is stepping down also from elected office/active politics. Nonetheless, despite a few political missteps, Doc has contributed much to the territory. May he enjoy a well earned retirement. Power, status, influence........etc is hard to give up but it is better to leave on one’s own initiative than to be asked to leave.
Don't come with no hot air this election season. All the flourish got to go.
Ronnie he will have this country running fine
