ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Opposition legislator and Director of the Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) Stacy M. Mather, MBE says he was shocked at the news of rape and sex trafficking allegations against [British] Virgin Islands belonger and business tycoon Dr Henry G. Jarecki.

Another legislator, Minister for Health and Social Development and Ninth District Representative Hon Vincent O. Wheatley has described the situation as "unfortunate".

“I was definitely shocked with the news and I think many people were. It is not something that I can comment on other than to say that it's in the court and Dr Jerecki released a statement pertaining to it,” Hon Mather told Rosemary L. Rosan aka 'Cindy' on The Morning Ride Show With A Side Of Politics on ZROD 103.7 FM today, June 7, 2024.

‘Shock’

Hon Mather added, “Yes, he is a founder of YEP, he has done a lot of work with us; however, YEP is not just Dr Jerecki, its myself and the people that work there over the years, the children, the parents and the project, and we’re going to continue doing the work we’ve done,” he added.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon Mather, said while he has received questions from other media houses as the allegations unfolded, he needed time to process the ‘shocking’ news.

He said; however, despite the allegations and the fact that the matter is in court, YEP and Guana Fund will continue to do the work it has done over the last 19 years.

Hon Mather said over the year the project has served 8000 youths in the VI, through the Jarecki family. “We’re going to continue to do the work we’ve done through… and that’s what we will focus on right now and allow that matter to be played out in the court.

‘Unfortunate’ - Hon Vincent O. Wheatley

Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9), speaking to Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), said, “I have seen that story [about Dr Jarecki] and to be honest I don’t know what to say.”

He added, “It is quite unfortunate that someone who has done so much for humanity and the BVI to be accused of such a thing, my prayers are with him and his family as they go through this.”

Dr Jarecki sued by 'Jane Doe 11'

On June 3, 2024, a woman who says Jeffrey E. Epstein sexually abused her sued Dr Jarecki for rape and sex trafficking.

The Independent reported that the unnamed woman, known in court documents as 'Jane Doe 11', filed a complaint in New York City on Monday, June 3, 2024, alleging that the now 91-year-old "repeatedly raped" her after she was sent to him for treatment by Epstein.

Dr Jarecki, through his lawyer on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, said he had a “consensual, non-secretive and mutually respectful relationship” with the accuser.

The business tycoon and philanthropist, who has Belongership status in the Virgin Islands (VI) and has been a member of the local community for over 50 years, is best known for his ownership of Norman Island and Guana Island, lauded yearly as one of the top resorts in the world.

People wake up Fast. He's is the ELITES bloodline. He owns an island that is all the proof you need. Ask the riches drug man here see if they can buy an island and see what they have to do to get that island. Sodom and ghorrah is what you will here from the sellers. The World we live in has a child like Wheatley running an island. He still have pampers on. A junkie is who they have running this Earth. I am appalled

This is exactly why this like this will continue to happen in the BVI. People idolize money over human welfare but we never know what he is praying for him and his family. As the saying goes, be careful who is praying for you!

Will this change the YEP donor policy? Will YEP continue to associate with DR J? What are the implications for YEP which offers support to young people? How involved is Dr J with YEP? Is YEP a grooming ground for victims of DR J and his rich friends like Epstein? This are the issues that Matter must address due to his association with YEP. Matter's response is very disappointing.
